I've come to the conclusion that my definition of Independent Short Film has been too narrow, and it makes sense to me that the label could also apply to non-fiction film, commercial film, and even music videos.

Re: Independent Short Film: Alma

so what do you think happened to her body?

Re: The Digital Distribution of Short Films (An Art in Itself) | Sundance Festival 2010

I think it is critical that filmmakers take advantage of opportunities to use new media in their distribution efforts. With the growing popularity of video sharing websites, I think it's only a matter of time until online film gets just as much recognition as the offline variety, especially in relation to short films. I think it's a step in the right direction for previously-published-online films to be welcomed with open arms at festivals such as Sundance. Good on you.

Re: 3 Fixes For Making Firefox Run Faster

Is it possible that the reason you've never found a virus with AVG is because it isn't a very good anti-virus program?

I agree the toolbar IS really annoying.

Re: If Your Shy, Cherish Privacy, Support Manchester United or Heaven Forbid own a PC - is the Thirty Day Challenge For You? #30dc

That's great! He said that it hurt his faith.
In the same way, I feel like it would hurt my faith to attend church next to a well-to-do doctor with a lucrative practice killing over 60,000 unborn children in exchange for money.
Making him an usher seems to condone his work. I suppose he must have tithed consistently in order to buy the silence of the pastoral staff.
If such a person had no conviction, no crisis of conscience, and no guiding intervention from church leadership or even other attendees, I can't imagine having the strength to continue attending services with that community of believers.

Re: If Your Shy, Cherish Privacy, Support Manchester United or Heaven Forbid own a PC - is the Thirty Day Challenge For You? #30dc

Hey Ed,
Another great post. The Germans have two words for Leader: Leiter and Führer. Obviously, the second has fallen greatly out of favor because of its association with Adolf Hitler, but I think its meaning is a bit more like what you had in mind.

Leiter is a bit more like a manager, giving directions, taking responsibility and making sure everything is working smoothly. But Führer is a lot more personal and compassionate. The meaning is a lot more like a Coach, Mentor, or a Guide, who doesn't just bark orders and tell you what to do, but sometimes literally takes you by the hand and guides you through the process, encouraging you in your failures, and celebrating your successes.

So, Coach, Mentor, and Guide would be my top suggestions.
