To clarify, the camp they were at was in Easton. The people who run the camp, "Hoop Mountain" are based out of Beverly.

I happen to like that show. I just don't get the constant beating of chests in the MVC.
The league is down, sorry. It's a fact. 1 scholarship athlete on 10 teams. Sorry jaunts out conference.
South over otherwise 5-0 Lowell? Haverhill two Ls to the CAL?
Yet, talk to a coach as I did last night, and you hear about night in and night out how good the competition is.
I love the league. Grew up on it. But it is what is what it is.

Yeah, I see your point. I think I was saying that that Marinaro/Finneran ... and don't forget my man Chris Lane at Colgate!!!! ... era kind of opened things into that Mastrullo era. I was saying it's gone down since then. I'll write more later, but Ollie has practice. I have to bolt. I'm going to CC-Hav scrimmage after. I will fill all in...

Everything I hear from the :LaSpada is great ... attitude, work ethic, etc.
The MVC is down, so one superstar might be able to dominate the league, depending on what he has around him.
I will say this. I love the league when Billerica is good. For us on the other side of the river, they make a great villain.
It makes for awesome theater ... CC-Billerica, Andover-Billerica, etc.
The best era of MVC football in the last 30 was the Mastrullo era when Billerica was the beast.

I have tried Graham at least four times over the last month or so, and he has chosen to not respond.
Too bad, I'd love the truth.
Word is from inside at MC, and this is as much rumor as anything, he and Johnny P had a falling out one night and that was it.
Funny, on the timing is everything category, I wonder if Graham was up for the BG job, basically in his backyard.
Imagine what he would do with that talent pool.
Anyway, it's over.
As for Pinkerton, isn't their toughest game Brockton?

Best line ever?
I'll take Seymour, Traylor/Wilfork, Warren and Vrabel setting the edge at the strong OLB spot.
They were pretty solid in '04.
Ellis, whom I like a lot, and Haynesworth and the rest have a long way to go to match that 04 bunch.

Might have been the best pizza ever there.

Haverhill really can't go anywhere. There is no way the CAL will take Haverhill now. It's a Division 2-3 suburban league.
Hillies have to police themselves first of all. Onus is on O'Brien and folks above him to make Haverhill High a viable entity again.
Too many of those people above him and on the faculty have said, "Hey, my kid is going elsewhere, so it's not my problem."
Sorry, that's not going to make things better.
Haverhill has to fix itself first, then hope for some help from the MVC, maybe actively hunting similar schools like Malden, Medford and Somerville.
O'Brien has talked of building from the youth levels up. I hope so.
Youth baseball numbers in the city went from like 1,400 last year to under 1,000 this year. Obviously, something is going wrong there.
The travel hoop program, which I now direct, was an absolute mess, but we are taking baby steps forward, pretty much doubling the number of kids involved in a year.
There is no girls travel program to speak of. Hopefully, we can do something about that this winter.
Lacrosse seems to be growing. The youth football thing is what it is, an intown league.
But Haverhill's not going to the CAL, not without NA there.
Perhaps, the CAC might be an option if things continue to disintegrate. I'd hate to see it.

Just not sure there is anyone else on the radar.
If you live in Reading, isn't there a strong draw to play with Woburn, Stoneham, et al... just georgraphically speaking?
A bigger merger type thing with some of the GBL fallout schools, Malden and Medford, might be more feasible.

You are playing Andover, two quality offenses, you don't play for one or two runs.
You do that against, say Lawrence, with Yunior or Vic, on the hill. Come on SF, you know better than this.

They gave Andover an out, and Central followed with about five straight hits to tie the game in the inning.
Seriously, the bunt was the key? I would say it was more about the line drives leaping off the Raider bats.
That lineup 1-to-9 has mashers. They look like SJP offensively, it's time to act like it too.
Who knows, if they don't give up that out, maybe they get 7 or 8 instead of 4.
And I just checked my game notes. Andover won.

Leo was so great to watch because he was just blue collar.
He was a bigger, stronger Mike Dunn, with that lefty half-hook.
He rebounded better than any kid I've seen in these parts. The only one who was close was Jonathan Cruz. But Leo was more polished than Cruz.
Never in three varsity years, and I was around the team a ton, did I ever hear Dick Licare yell at Leo.
Well, there was one time at a scrimmage at Don Bosco. One of the Bosco stud bigs, either Molloy or Chenault Terry, dunks a rebound right over Leo in the first quarter.
It was a snowy early december day, it was early on a Saturday morning, nobody came to play, and Bosco was rolling CC good.
Dickie calls a timeout to wake everybody out.
He just lays into Leo about the first box out he ever missed and the kid dunks on him. It was good stuff.
I wonder if times had changed, and if Dickie was a bit more sage than his early years, if he would have let Leo develop his face-up game in high school, how much better he would have been. Leo was a nasty 3-point shooter at Lowell, and that face-up game got him to the Warriors camp and into the CBA for a couple years with the Sioux Falls Sky Force.
