Given the current economy I support the Erie Arts Council cuts especially since they'll get some Casino funding. Our taxes are already too high. Let's hope they find the courage to cut some bigger programs and give the people of Erie some help by cutting taxes in these tough economic times.

I just voted at Jefferson school at 38th & Old French in Erie. There were 45 people ahead of me in line and I waited about 35 minutes. I have never seen a crowd like this on election day. Everyone was upbeat and friendly and it really reminds you that high voter turnout is sign of a strong Democracy. My wife got there at 6:45am to vote and she was 10th in line. I hope everyone gets a chance to participate in this great democratic process. And no matter who wins I'll support the next President and wish him the best.

Phil negative? Kinda like how Kathy accuses him of voting FOR NAFTA when he wasn't even in Congress when President Clinton, a Democrat, signed into law in 1993? We don'y know how much Kathy is worth since she, unlike Hillary Clinton & Barack Obama, won't release her tax returns, but 12 acres with a lake view is easy to find a market price for. Maybe she doesn't want to show her many employees how much she makes compared to them.

Making fun of Phil's weight, geez that's clever. Supply & Demand works, the more there is of something the less is costs. Phil consistently votes for more drilling and easier energy exploration, adding to the supply which will lower prices. That's good for the gas industry how?
Obama voted FOR the latest energy bill ( it was terrible & I'm glad it failed) but it had tax breaks for big oil & gas. How do you feel about it him now?

Don't look at his promises, look at his record. He brings the money back for reinvestment in the district and he has crossed party lines as a moderate. He was endorsed by the NEA ( National Education Association, the country's biggest teachers union) and he voted against the obscenely large bailout TWICE! He appeals to many factions of both parties and we are lucky to have him serving for us. Plus he got us the money for the sand replenishment.

You're kidding that it's a 'gaffe' about being in the state of the World Champion Phillies, right? Joe Biden said that FDR was President in 1929 and that he went on TV ( a full 10 years before FDR did go on TV) . But those two factual errors were not a gaffe, just Joe being Joe I suppose. You said the constitution didn't mention "roads"! But clearly it does. There are 2 million miles+ of paved roads in the US that the post office uses and so does everyone else! You said they weren't in the Constitution. Did I miss read that post? Now you are listing all this other stuff. I will agree that the Federal government has way over stepped its bounds.

You argue like my kids. I can hear it know: Kid 1 whining "but DAD! George Bush grew government with the medicare part D so why can't I add Universal health care?" my response " " If George Bush jumped off a bridge would you? And clean your room too!"

Clever on the Bush DUI. If you believe the media has a right wing pro Bush bias then we really have to re examine this conversation.

You say the McCain are using personal attacks and that's weak but you do this AFTER attacking Rush Limbaugh, a private citizen who isn't running for anything.
We are all weak. I believe we are all sinners. I certainly am but that doesn't mean what we say isn't valid. that's another type of false argument. Books have been written on hypocrisy and I could rattle off a huge list here to support my argument but that doesn't change that you are trying to detract from the core of my argument and that is The US Constitution DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING ABOUT SHARING THE WEALTH.

Where does the Constitution give government the right to "spread the wealth"? The top 1% income earners make 22% of the income but pay 40% of ALL income taxes. Is that fair? I know people who make a lot more than me. Most of them work longer hours and have made more sacrifices than I have to get there. But I guess since I drive a Hyundai and not a BMW I should be entitled some of the wealth too.

You undermine your own pro Obama stance every time you say the government already does stuff that isn't in the Constitution. Because it has been done in the past doesn't make his adding to it ( or McCain) right.

Article 1 section 8 of the US Constitution enumerates a lsit of powers, http://www.usconstitution.n.... This includes SPECIFICALLY the power to create roads. You said 2 posts previously the Constitution doesn't grant that power. Your are wrong on a main point of your arguement. Not an opinion in being wrong, but a factual error about a main point of our discussion. Therefore because of your lack of knowledge on an easily verifiable fact ( and that your argued strongly from a this false position) I must conclude you know nothing about the Constituion and the powers of government.

If you believe the media lavished positive coverage on Bush in 2000, release of DUI information the weekend before the election and in 2004 Dan Rather using documents that had been proven forgeries to attack Bush's National Guard service, you are terribly misguided.

Personal attacks on Rush Limbaugh ( pain killers? Really, nothing about Howard Dean the DNC chair being an alcoholic?) are so sad. Having an addiction doesn't make many of his opinions wrong. You resort to name calling and personal attacks because you have no factual basis to stand on. Resorting to name calling and personal attacks are hallmarks of a weak and flawed arguement.

I understand that people have different goals: Obama is saying if you make less than $250,000 a year I'll take from those that do and gived it to you. He said " SPREAD THE WEALTH" I am familiar with Constitution ( and I have proven you aren't) I can tell you spread the wealth isn't in it. But since there are many more people who make under $250 K who want free stuff from those who do I can understand why Obama is getting so much support. In 2001 Obama said it was a "tragedy" that the court didn't do more to reditribute wealth in the US. He was a Constitutional Scholar at Harvard, he knows this isn't in the Constituion, but he also knows his supporters (like you) don't.

Simply my opinion?Are you kidding?!!! Check the CONSTITUTION! if your party can find the "right" to abortion I am sure you can tell me where the Universal Health Care clause is! Your argument is false; because some of it is allowed doesn't mean all of it is allowed. ( federal works that is)

The idea for the Federal Mortgage buy out is terrible. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ( created by FDR!) are terrible creations! There are 5 Million bad mortgages given to ILLEGAL ALIENS that we 'have" to bail out. I oppose McCain on this, but that doesn't mean he isn't the better choice. McCain is the paper cut compared to Obama being a sucking chest wound, if I have to choose one or the other I'll pick McCain.

So you don't like McCain on what he crossed the aisle on? Obama didn't do ANY bi-partisan stuff but he's the Unifier? McCain never laid claim to Unifying the country. The country has never been unified ever! Politically we have always had 2 sides believing 2 different things about the role of federal government.

McCain is no where near the perfect candidate but he is SO much better than Obama it's amazing that people have trouble seeing it.

OOPS , no it's not: people are being spoon fed Obama by just about every media outlet in the country! ( I'm sure you'll mention Fox News again in your response)

Bojosmom: Identifying one of the Bishop's many homilies on many subjects,such as the 10 commandments which if followed would end this violence is not important. Unless you are saying that he is part of the violence problem. My suggestion is to hold parents accountable and to stop having the government be a surrogate parent. This is the 'reward' for decades of failed social policies and reckless government spending. Parents now say their kids' rights have been violated if caught rather than punish the kid themselves. This is part of the 'nanny' state. I am guessing you'll be voting for more of it November 4th.

Bojosmom: I am sure Bishop Trautman is worried about it but do you really think these offenders are going to be in Church on Sunday to hear it? To make this out to be a church failing is absurd. More like Social program failing. Can I ask why aren't these kids listening to all the anti-bullying ads I hear on the radio? I bet if their parents took their kids to church every week we'd have less violence. Parents have abdicated responsibility because the govdernment lets them and actually takes over many of what used to be parental responibilities, I'm sure we'll have more of this as government gets bigger and bigger.
