It is not just black families- I am an autism mom and the thought that my son could just be approached by a random stranger and then shot because he did not meet expectations of how he should behave was in my nightmares before the Martin-Zimmerman shooting.

That may have been the course that convinced 4 women to end up married to my grandfather who was a jerk. Now I appreciate that I am the result of his first wife sticking it out until she had finally had enough and divorced him because being a single mother of 5 in the fifties was awesome sauce, and I love my remaining grandmother (wife #3) but I suspect that all four women would have ended up in better relationships without that course.

I believe adding in a living wage for the overseas workers in the supply chain would add an additional $0.12 to that number. So I could live with that.

The lie is that they go to foreign countries just for the lower wages- they go because regulations are lax or non-existent and that lowers costs by more than the wage differential. That is why corporations have always been against regulation because it adds to the upfront costs which they would have to absorb or account for versus no regulations and they just close and run like cowards when things go wrong.

Thank you for this, I have known several women who have had to go the IVF route and it was a hard, hard route to go. IVF is supported in Quebec and so it is no longer as [prohibitively] expensive as it was but it is still not a choice that every couple is likely to make. It is not an effective means for creating the ideal child as such a being is only found in bad SF.

It was a criminal trial, they were found guilty and confirmed as criminals, why the heck wouldn't I want criminals to have their lives changed? I hope they use their appallingly short sentences to learn a little compassion, empathy and civil sensibility.

He was photographed as he was being filmed in a sex shop which is a prop in a movie that will go to theatres and he is worried that his young fans will see it?!?!
I get the invasion of privacy issues. I get the intrusiveness of culture of celebrity. I get that this shouldn't be news in any paper in the land. What I don't get is how you can be outraged about a picture of you doing the job you purposely contracted to do?

This makes me happy as my family is originally from Washington state and I have relatives all over the state. It also means that couples like this will be able over time to experience the entirety of the marriage experience as bitter-sweet as it can be. So for my aunt, living in Toronto, who has been able to be married, widowed and soon to be re-married, I salute these couples and all to follow.

I remember that night, it was a long night and I remember the dead and those who survived because they deserve being remembered. And as gruesome as it is, I thank them because years later when another gunman entered the college where my husband and sister work, the police reaction was immediate from lessons learned.
