These five didn't go to the press. That is a lie, and whomever keeps saying that is a liar. There were MANY steps taken to resolve this. Do you need them listed out? Wouldn't that make this worse? Would you like to see their steps justified? Believing in something and doing what you think is right, when there aren't other options- is the right thing to do. There were no other options. There wasn't another way to do this. Don't you think they tried? They lost a lot out of this too, but you always point the blame on someone else.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

I see your hostility. I see that you've reverted telling me to grow up? No, I think that you are frustrated, and defintely didn't have a clue about what was really going on. Sorry, but the truth did hurt, and I warned you. I would have never wanted this to happen to him. Vern was a friend. You can scream small town politics frustration, all you want. Things happen, and when the truth comes out, even in a small town, people will be hurt.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

Well it all came out in the wash didn't it? Investigation proved their point.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

I definitely don't have hostility towards you, but I do have to speak out when people make false accusations. If you know so much- please go ask the five. Don't misrepresent and definitely don't accuse. There is no agenda here. I have no idea why people pulled out that they are out to get Vern. The lawsuit, investigation, nothing to do with what they did. The media did it. They resigned quietly, but the town then started asking questions. They made the absolute sacrifice in standing up for what they believe in, and resigned. The letter wasn't given out. I don't think people really believe that. The letter only went to the Chief and to the Mayor. It became public information through the town. They should be respected in standing up for what they believe in, when they had to give up something they love. I'm glad you understand that there is more to this story.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

Mr Former firefighter, you sure don't know what you are talking about. You must have not been there very long, Or I'd call you out- and let everyone know your name. You sure didn't know your fellow firefighters, and now you look like someone who really didn't know their stuff. Probably better to have left your words in your thoughts, then verbalize. Combined years for these firefighters- is over twenty five years. One of the firefighters has been a firefighter since 1991. So, since you didn't know your fellow firefighters or WHAT experience they brought to the department- you MAKE me very scared that you were a volunteer. Maybe they didn't have the experience through YOUR department, but they came from various backgrounds- and paid departments. Why are you blaming these guys? they aren't to blame, and they definately aren't the ones who came forward with this. Get your facts straight. You make the department look bad. Thanks a lot.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

The five did approach the Town Admin, several Council members, the chief, and the officers in the dept.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

I agree with you gollywobbler, and yes, my 'get a life' comment was out of line, and I will edit that.

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

Really, communicate better? Do you see any interviews from the five? What agenda? They turned in a letter to the mayor and the Chief. Who gave it to the media? NOT those five. They weren't out to get Vern, and still aren't- or don't you think there would be more in the paper? People like you are driving the department apart. Everyone likes Vern. They still like him enough to not come out, it never was an 'us vs him.'

Re: Fitch: Outside law firm investigating claims made about fire chief in 'no confidence' letter - Journal of the San Juans

You believe everything you read in the newspapers and don't know the whole story. None of those five wanted this. There is so much more to this story- but has ANYONE asked the five? Before you go and spout off- you'd better think about what you don't know- then what you do know. They did do other things before this happend. When the investigation is complete hopefully you won't be out there blaming thre wrong peopole. There is so much more to this story. Those five didn't just quit. There are records of things they did to try and change things. What had to happen? Someone die or get hurt? This was a wake up for everyone. No one feels good about this.

Re: Friday Harbor fire chief suspended, goes on medical leave; five firefighters resign, cite 'no confidence' - Journal of the San Juans

There were no winners here.

Re: Friday Harbor fire chief suspended, goes on medical leave; five firefighters resign, cite 'no confidence' - Journal of the San Juans

Just drop it.
