Bauer has few admirers in the community he destroyed. This article is trying to make him some sort of super hero. Trust me, he's not. Many of us toasted his early resignation. We're all hoping he puts a big for sale sign in his yard next.

Re: Protect public notices and protect your right to know | Editorial - North Kitsap Herald

Forcing people to use a computer in order to acquire information about public meetings is discrimination - not everyone uses the internet. What about people who can't afford internet access or those that are retired and don't have a need to use the internet? I must also say that government websites are the worst at finding information. This is the wrong way to notify the public.

Re: Letters to the Editor - North Kitsap Herald

I disagree with Commissioner Bauer’s recent statements in the Herald.
Besides working on the county's budget, Bauer said he's trying to reestablish connections between county residents and their local government. "Government in general has disconnected voters and taxpayers and it's not out of good will," he said, adding government has gotten into a pattern where voice is often granted to those degree-bearing individuals with educated opinions and strayed from individual residents'.
To combat that, Bauer said he's a big proponent of the county's Citizen Advisory Groups, which exist to link those who live in unincorporated areas of the county and local government. "They help the County because there is one place we can go to get feedback on proposals and they are a great way for the County to hear from a local area," he wrote.
Prior to becoming Commissioner, Bauer helped form the “county recognized” advisory council for Hansville (aka GHAAC). GHAAC and the County are now being sued by a group of local citizens who believe their civil rights have been violated. This group of citizens formed a non-profit organization (CAGEH), and asked the Hansville Log, the only local newsletter for residents in the Hansville/Eglon area, to print a paragraph identifying CAGEH and how to contact them. (The purpose of the Log, which is published by the Hansville Community Center, is to communicate information to the local residents about events, meetings, issues, etc.) The Log denied CAGEH’s request stating, “Policy is set by the [Community Center] Board for publishing the Log. The policy indicates that articles of a political nature will not be included.” Doesn’t GHAAC’s relationship with the County constitute it as a political group? I ask this question because GHAAC regularly publishes information in the Log. If it’s a violation of the Community Center’s policy to publish anything of a “political nature”, why is the GHAAC permitted to use the Log? Is it because the President of the Community Center is also the President of the GHAAC?

Hansville's advisory council is a self-appointed group of people who do not seek opinions from residents. If they did, there wouldn’t be a lawsuit. Bauer's advisory council is precisely what is causing all the headaches in the Eglon/Hansville area. However, Bauer continues to believe this advisory council is “a great way for the County to hear from a local area”. LaCelle prefers town hall meetings where everyone who wants to participate is permitted to speak their mind. I know who is getting my vote!

Re: Two compete for commissioner seat - North Kitsap Herald

I disagree with Commissioner Bauer’s recent statements in the Herald.
Besides working on the county's budget, Bauer said he's trying to reestablish connections between county residents and their local government.
