I took a quick look at what harvard invests in, in order to keep that much money and basically they used to invest in bad companies in terms of how they treated their employees and what they did. Now they started to invest in more social and environmental concious companies. The team of investors and managers they had I guess were pretty good, I saw some of the stock that they were investing in and there was nothing wrong. Now , I think harvard has to take a look at the way in which investing is done and really work to save cash.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: Sports :: Harvard Looks To Rebound in Key Contests

Yo

is like watching atletico madrid... los sufridores!... I think you all need a playmaker in the middle or some more cohesive output in terms of shooting. Someone else try to shoot at the net!
6 shots for one person who does not score, and then a few others shoot at the net. The style you are playing as a team, at least on paper comes across as very one dimensional. Someone needs to step up and play D, make someone happen in the middle or score a goal or two more this season.

Man... you guys are like Xerez nail biting losses.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Extension School To Offer January Classes

Yo

I feel bad for anyone that is even contemplating hitting the streets for the j term so don't pick on me. The writter does justice to his last name, I don't want to be a nuisance to anyone, however I would like to say that at times of catastrophy and instances of such magnitud you really do see the quality of newsource that mediums of communication can really be. Having said this- I think the crimson writting at times can be much better, especially in terms of ethics. The original story made racial links as if it was putting people in their place according to race and or social status. Anyways, murder is horrible and you guys should treat it with the attention that beureaus of investigation treat such crime scenes. I am not saying there a race agenda involved but there is an innocent like perspective at race relations from your pen and your printed word at tiems that stumbles into a form of an argument that takes the shape of prejudism. When you stumble on race in very innocent manner it just shows your innexperience of the worldliness that surrounds us, I am not an expert when it comes to the streets, however when you see the quality of reporting drop you tend to go somewhere else. Do not get me wrong, I like the crimson, I like the fact that it has liberal opinions; its articles read like entertaining passages of student life that are funny, informative , opinionated and often entertaining but this is murder and not many people can write abour race, murder logistics and political relations within the college. Newcomer did a horrible initial job if you ask me, you should have gotten someone else. I think Nan Ni has written a fair bunch of very gloomy articles about assault and theft, get someone that is more sensible to the subject next time or give it the crimson staff name instead.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Harvard Student Linked to Kirkland Shooting Denies Involvement

Man, does anyone have a link to the speech codes that are to be followed at Harvard??

You are not protected by the first ammendment at Harvard but you are at Harvard square??

Interesting.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Harvard Student Linked to Kirkland Shooting Denies Involvement

Hey ALB '06, I am not mocking anyone or making some sort of attempt at hinting a joke at any culture. I just seriously like that album, = |
Apparently the moniker HNIC come from Prodigy's grandmother who managed a building in New York and was one of the first lady landlords in the area where Prodigy grew up. The only reasons I picked it up was becasue the album was hot when I first started posting here. I should have already retired it. I apologize for any misscommunication about the moniker, honestly is just cause I like the album and that is the name. And alchemist is a good producer.

About the case, I don't even know what to say...after all of the comments if the administration behaves in the way that they do is probably because they know more about the case than they are releasing to the public.
I still think she should be able to get her degree however. She proably had written all of the final exams too. In anycase, good luck to her. And may peace reign this summer at Harvard campus man, sheeeesh.... I was just reading brown and yale's newspapers and they are full of life and good news. Such a start contrast to the crimson, in fact this whole year has been so filled with gloomy news with the exception perhaps of the football team and the girls basketball team doing quite well.
Wow.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Harvard Student Linked to Kirkland Shooting Denies Involvement

I agree with you.

I also don't really think that the poster with regards to the Kirkland comment is not a nice one. She is just another girl from New York that is trying to get her degree. Anyways, I wish her good luck in her endevours, everyone here is making comments about her name. I can relate to this type of "commentary" about name calling vis-a-vis ribbing by classmates.

I hope she gets her side of her story told and represented properly. I just think we live in a day an age where students are not given due process, I wish at least the administration (not just at harvard but many other schools) would be a bit more forthcoming towards students and give, even the bad ones, their due rights. To at least get their side of their story heard, I mean who here has not felt overpowered by a higher authority where you are not given a basic democratic process???

This is very dubious behaviour by the administration towards a minority student and they should understand that given the position that they are in, people will scrutinize their actions. Life will go on but I honestly believe she should get her degree if she proves that she had no knowledge about the individuals entering the dorm.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Harvard Student Linked to Kirkland Shooting Denies Involvement

I think she should be allowed to get her diploma. A good lawyer should at least present a good argument for this type of case on her behalf. If she maintains that she did not have any involvement on the shooting, she should not be claimed guilty before she has to state her case publicly. The crimson reports the facts and most of the students side with the administration. Sure it could be that they know more than all of us but this is now a legal matter and from what I read, the lawyer is correct, no due process and no opprotunity to appeal. The circumstances are horrible and it is a sticky situation:
She could potentially graduate and claim some sort of "status" off of the shooting, which is a grim and twisted type of analysis of the facts. However this is an option.
She could in fact get away with accessory to murder and graduate. However, I am not even sure what the details are.

I blieve that the most prudent thing to do, from my perspective with regards to the administration would be to suspend her from the graduation process and kick her off campus and give her at least some sort of hearing before a committe or the administration. However, the administration actions have been more geared towards putting an already guilty blame forgoing any type of democratic process of appeal based on the minimum of student rights. Having said that, I am not sure about the actual details, it is easy to side with the administration because of its sheer power and size. While they should not act on race I do believe that they might have made some sort of mistake on acting early and agressively on this student. It seems like she could have been given at least given an opportunity to haver her side of her story presented in some sort of fashion in front of the administration, but the case is that the administration acted promptly and made a decision on basis that overide her side of the story and to a certain extend legally give her no grounds of due process, at least within the university jurisdiction. This is something that you college guys need to represent at the student level against administration, sure she might have done something stupid but is there not something so simple as student rights??
I am not advocating for more drug dealers or people covering up for drug dealers, what I would like to state shortly is that she has some sort of right to present her side at least legally before everyone in the college starts to take side. The problem is not so much about siding with the administration, the poster above is totally right. The best defence sometimes is an offence, that might well be the case when you have absolute power, rules, police and judges siding with you. However for a student this is different.
I don't know details but the case might be that she might have just opened the door accidently without knowing who this people where. She might have swiped her car and three other students were opportunistic about it and lied their way in. I don't really know, however there is something to be said about democratic process for students. There must be certain amount of rights granted.

Re: The Harvard Crimson :: News :: Friends, Neighbors Remember Cosby’s “Strong” Presence

Poor guy.
May he rest in peace.

Damn, I can see certain traits of me in him.
