I never knew how many Bipolar medication there were, until this last job (Reviewing Patients Records with Doctors & Nurses over the phone making sure that none of their medications will contraindicate with each other & are safe to take) Bipolar is the base Diagnosis I see for about 90% of our patients. Next they add in schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, dementia. It's so crazy how many medications I see patients on, in adjunct to all the other meds they have to take.

These are medications that people become stable on, & I cringe every time I get a pharmacy calling in asking for us to increase the Claim Limit (so the insurance will pay) because the drug went up like $100 in price. While working at a retail pharmacy in Clinton, UT I couldn't believe that some people ended up having to pay Cash for these medications. It's insane! You'll end up going broke if you don't have insurance, and even then it's usually your highest copay $45+ a month.

Bipolar is just one of many diagnosis that people have to live with day in and day out, & I liked your insight on the disease. Great Blog
