People around me, trying to be helpful, will often say, "You're not that big," not realizing that yes, I really am that big. In the past, I was Morbidly Obese. Gain just 15 pounds, and I'd be there again! I'm still obese. And not just obese, but Class II. Often, when we think of obese, we think of the 500 pound people you see on TV all the time, but obesity starts at a much lower weight than most people realize! I'm 5'4" tall, and I won't fall out of the obese range until I'm below 180 pounds!!!

Re: Yummification - Journal - Nutella Pop Tarts

They never last long around here!

Re: Popchips: Review & Giveaway (it’s big!)

I'd love to try the sea salt and vinegar. There are many highly intelligent homeless people who have just never had a break in life, and would happily take that chance for $150 a month. The exposure to her alone will help catapult her into a new life.

Re: Not My Child Monday

Your 11-year-old sounds like my 11-year-old... he's pulled stunts like that. The first is budget. Reusable bags are inexpensive, yes, but I made less than $10,000 last year, and I'm a single mom, so it's sometimes hard to come up with even an extra dollar! But I'm starting to make some of my own reusable bags (I cut plastic grocery bags into strips and then crochet them into a sturdier reusable bag!)

And also, remembering to take the reusables to the store can be a tough one! But I'm getting better about that. When I walk to the store, I have a little go-getter cart that I take with me, and I store the reusable bags right in that, so they are ready to go when I am! Now to work on remembering to take them when [ex] Husband gives me a ride to the grocery store!

<abbr>Gwynne´s last blog post..Want free stuff? They are time consuming! I hope to do many more on that blog, as well as on Lemonade Mama, but companies need to realize that as much as we love doing giveaways, they are hard work, and a product sample is really fair, and inexpensive, compensation for that hard work! If I'd gotten an hourly rate for the work that I put into the giveaways at C2G? I'd have probably made enough to pay my bills the next three months...

And I don't think a lot of companies realize just how GREAT giveaways are for raising awareness and bringing in new customers. I recently bought a WonderWash, after having seen it on the giveaway at Resourceful Mommy. I'd never heard of it before that, and it fits my needs PERFECTLY. Giveaways are such a great way to get the word out about a product, with less cost than more traditional ways of advertising.

To ask a blogger to do a giveaway without a product sample is, to me, a bit silly. First, if I can review the product as part of the giveaway, it makes it so much easier for me to build hype. I'm a hyper-excited person anyway, and if I'm excited about a product, I will happily tell everyone about it not just on my blog, but on Twitter as well. So if I've got the product in my hands, and can really share the benefits, I can get more people excited about the giveaway, and bring that much more attention to the company.

For whatever reason, companies seem to think blog giveaways are easy, and they aren't. I spent hours upon hours prepping the recent giveaways at C2G, and after that experience learned a lot, but I know it's hard work!

Re: Twitter Starts Serving Ads For Third Party Apps (But They Aren't Charging For Them)

They're small, unobtrusive, and they don't interfere with the stream. As long as they stay relevant and don't offend me (like the massive number of weight loss ads I get on MySpace... come on, I know I'm fat and on a diet, quit reminding me...) I'm happy that Twitter can find an income stream. Because if I lost Twitter? I think I'd probably lose my mind, and if they don't make money, they ain't stickin' around!!!

Re: On Choosing and Being Chosen

I was 18 when I got pregnant with my son, so I totally understand where you're coming from! Getting married wasn't an option for me, bio-dad disappeared for four years, but even if it had been an option, I likely wouldn't have taken it.

My family spent my entire pregnancy trying to convince me I'd made the wrong choice in continuing and choosing to keep my son, but everyday, I reminded them that it was MY choice, not anyone else's choice.

And now, over 11 years later, everyone finally realizes that my choice was the right one. It's knowing, even when no one else knew, that I made the right choice that has kept me going over the years!

Re: Confessions of a Chubby Mom Blogger

I know the feeling of growing up thin, and then gaining. I was always the super skinny, couldn't gain weight no matter how much I ate, kid. Until my junior year of high school. Been chubby ever since!

I don't let it hold me back. I have no problem posting full body pics of myself on my blogs, and have done so many, many times.

But I'm also aware that being heavy has limited me in some ways. People look at me differently, and treat me differently. And it's a cultural perception that is unfair. We just have to ignore it and live our lives without worrying about that though!

Re: Single Moms Only Giveway: George Foreman Grill

I'm a single mom! Even now when my [ex] Husband and I go out, if it was my idea, I pay. If it was his idea, he pays. It works out just about even with us. Though in the past, I've dated guys where I ended up paying regardless of who asked, and that ends up being the last date. I simply don't ask someone out if I don't have the money to pay for both of us, let alone pay for myself, and I would expect the same from someone else!

Re: Beyond TweetBacks: Introducing TweetSuite

Loving it.
