Oh yeah, everyone talks about minimum wage but very few talk about the effect if has on us old folk. We have no way to go out and make more money - yet everything keeps going up in price. Both my dad and my husband often worked more than one job if they wanted more money - they didn't keep pushing for wages to go up all the time. I'm sorry, but I don't think flipping burgers is supposed to be a career option and is not worth what they are getting paid nowadays. SHEESH - want better wages - find a better job.

I didn't say they weren't needed - just that the wait-staff does very little waiting at 'our' Red Robin. The customer places their own order via the tablet at the table, and when they are finished, the charges come up on that same tablet and they pay right there at the table. Very little human interaction. They haven't asked us to bus our own tables yet but it wouldn't surprise me if they did. BTW, wait-staff here in Oregon are paid minimum wage or higher with the employer is not allowed to consider tips as part of their wage. They make a heck of a lot more than I do on my social security!

At our Red Robin, you only see the waiter after you have placed your order on the electronic tablet supplied at each table. You punch in your own order and can even pay with your credit card all at the table. You can also play games on the tablet while you wait but there is a charge. The wait staff should have time to clear tables since they aren't taking orders or payments.

We have a pair of mallards that have moved into our backyard swimming pool. We have chased them off many times but they are determined to stay and always return. I don't want to harm them and am tempted to just leave them alone. My question is, if I leave them alone, will they move on when the weather warms and will their ducklings (if any) go with them? Will the ducks be harmed by swimming in a chlorinated pool?

Good story Andria! But don't ya'll go whining about the cold in Milwaukee. We got up to 11 degrees yesterday, tying a record set in 1919! It never got above freezing yesterday and it is still below freesing this morning. All in all a good day to stay in and cheer the Ducks on to victory.
