Roger - thanks; I think my clarity might have been that I did some research *before* the podcast; my colleagues have strong opinions, and I didn't want to turn it into a two-against-one (or two-against-two) discussion. Personally, I think it's a funding tool like any other - whether you use it or not, that's your perogative. It's like caring about what hacksaw you use.

Siegenthaler - the writing was extremely spotty, and I felt at times that this was a five (or even six) episode mini-series stretched out for *way* too long.

Thanks for a great article - one of the things I tend to do is a lot more cooking at home rather than buying preprocessed/fast food.

It doesn't quite take as much time as expected, for one thing - in fact, it often acts as a way to decompress from the day. And quite honestly, since I'm only cooking for one - leftovers tend to last awhile....

Before I shave, I wash my face in hot water...and scrub with a loofah and soap.

It sounds silly, I know, but my shave - even if I use a bargain basement disposable (which I did once...and ran away) - is very close and smooth; so much so, that I could shave every other day, if needed.

Great post, Ryan - I think part of the key is that we have to stop thinking in terms of the old "push" model, and see WOM as more of a collaborative relationship (key term) than a quid pro quo.

For DWOM practictioners, their goal is to make the message relevant, personal, and "welcome" - it's not so much about tailoring the message to the blogger; it's making sure that the message fits the overall blogger's philosophy/mission statement/purpose, and that the blogger embraces that message to the point of creating discussion. It's about "capacity building" (to use a more social service-y term) in relationships than it is the "quick fix" of increasing hits.
