I think the numbers will reflect that, unless some sort of blocker or antiviral treatments can help control it until vaccines can be produced and get out to the worlds populations.

Re: Visualizing the History of Pandemics

But it's only the first 3 months... most of the others were a year or more...

Re: Visualizing the History of Pandemics

How about comparing the first three months of each of these? But recruiters are only a small % of the way Job Seekers find work & recruiters aren't looking for Interns/people new to the workforce or looking for career change. And many other people are looking not for a job, but some other benefit for being on LinkedIn.I wish the Bloggers and LinkedIn experts, trainers, self or other person proclaimed 'guru's would spend 2% of their time writing about Profiles & being found, and 98% thinking about, testing, writing about & teaching PROACTIVE use of LinkedIn to build relationships with PEOPLE in this new, Social world, in person and on the Social Web, toward achieving what you want to achieve. This is the absolute Key to using LinkedIn & Social Media, and it starts with not looking at it as being 'online' or that you'll be 'found' somehow...The post & hope', the 'build it and they will come' approach to LinkedIn use is old, very old and just plain 'the wrong strategy' in my opinion.I don't really have time to Blog, but I did do a few posts on this if anyone's interested & this is allowed in Comments (there's no advertising or sales on my Blog):Where the rubber hits the road with LinkedIn, Social Mediahttp://goodpeople.jp/?... Personal Branding, beats ‘LinkedIn Profile’s that rock’ advicehttp://goodpeople.jp/... steps to getting something out of a LinkedIn social community (Group)http://goodpeople.jp/?p=1539

Re: Read It Later Changes Name to Pocket, Updates Features and Goes Free

Being able to share from the Web app is key for me, and I do not have Admin rights to install Browser widgets etc.

Re: How to Optimize Your LinkedIn Profile

I believe strongly that the focus on 'tweaking your profile' on LinkedIn offers a great disservice to folks trying to work out how to use LinkedIn.

Check out these discussions I started related to it in a LinkedIn Strategies group (open group):

Being 'Found' on LinkedIn - is that really a 'strategy'?
http://lnkd.in/vnA27A

LinkedIn - a Pretty Profile ain't gonna cut it (even if it's '100%')
http://lnkd.in/FEXpK7

My extra comments on one - The old '80/20' rule is helpful in explaining my ideas here:

80% of your value of being on LinkedIn will come from 20% of .... (contacts, efforts, etc.) but more than that, I see the training and advice out there is flipped, focused on the wrong areas and I'm not exactly sure why: 80% of advice, blog posts, training etc. seems to focus disproportionately on the areas of LinkedIn that, while important for when someone takes a look at you, are not where the rubber hits the road.

They're focusing on an ROI area that's both out of your control (you do something, then wait to see who responds, finds you, contacts you etc.) and rather generously, 'may potentially' result in only 20% of the value of being on LinkedIn.

Much better to focus 80% of your thinking and proactive effort, on the areas in your control that are much more likely to result in 80% of the value of being on LinkedIn, IMHO.

Re: Do you know who is in your LinkedIn Group?

Short, sharp & to the point Karla. Again, I'd focus on getting good at Search yourself instead - a far, far greater skill. Plus the LinkedIn Search feature is gamed/throttled - it doesn't work logically because they have made it that way. See this site for why & for learning about search inside LinkedIn, Outside LinkedIn, and back in again:

Where Do You Rank In LinkedIn’s Search Results?
http://www.booleanblackbelt...

LinkedIn Profile Search Engine Optimization / SEO
http://www.booleanblackbelt...

I'm sure the above are a good read for those wanting to figure out how to 'do something and then wait, and eventually people will flock to ME', however I still maintain an hour searching and reaching out to others, aiming for in person or other meetings, will be dozens (hundreds!) of times more effective than an hour 'tweaking your profile'.

Re: LinkedIn for Business – Why Bother?

The power & benefit for the average person; Fortune 500 Employee through to Job Seeker (OK, I exclude people for whom 'Link Juice' makes their heart beat faster, though I think they are misinformed) has 20% to do with the stuff you mentioned - your presence and 'personal brand' (how people see you) and 80% to do with what is available for you to DO PROACTIVELY. What & how?

My philosophy (and I implore you) stop worrying about all the things outside your control on LinkedIn and Social Media like ‘tweaking your profile 100%!’ & ‘being found’, and do the hard yards (which just means take a bit of time & effort) and do three things consistently:

1. Regularly ask yourself and be able to articulate what you want out of business Networking. Never lose sight of the fact you are in fact just Networking toward a real & defined goal. Base all your business networking related activity on this.
2. Research, research, research: Industries, Companies, roles in Companies, People in those roles, People connected to People. I estimate 80-90% of people don’t do this at all, let alone effectively (excluding the most proactive of business development professionals, and any recruiter worth his salt of course).
3. Proactively reach out to people in a non-threatening, not ‘all about me’ way, don’t sell anything, just ‘Network’ to start with. Like you’re meeting, casually but professionally in person for the first time.

Multiply the above exponentially with ‘Massive Action’ – don’t do it 10-20 times, do it 100-200 times, do it constantly. Coupled with being very clear & concise how people can help you, over time & at the right time, you will grow exactly the type of network of people, real people with real relationships focused on how you can help each other, that you want to (see point 1.)

If your goal, because your an executive is largely about people in your Sales team doing the above ("not me"), then IMHO I believe it's your job to understand this process, teach & lead by example where possible.

LinkedIn, Social Media for business I suspect, is that simple, that misunderstood.

Re: 10 Things I Wish I Knew About Japanese Learning When I Was First Starting Out

You rock mate, really.
