There is a very important reason NOT to build the wall. The amount of ecological damage it would create. On top of the disruption of communities and families that are on both sides of the border. Google: Mexico Wall causing environmental damage. I haven't found a politician talking about it yet.

Former Alaskan still in contact from the lower 48. Reality includes the future of Native coastal villages that are going to be inundated by global sea warming. Given the time it will take to rebuild at safer locations, the plans need to be started. Army COE did an analysis not long ago I can't find the reference to. Although the one village was estimated at $131 million, the AK Permanent fund is a tad larger than that. Seems utterly logical to me that the people who lived in Alaska first, and barely used any of the petroleum products that are causing the problem, should get significant financial help with relocating-from the fund that was set up to help fund the Alaskan government needs.

Watching the Iditarod this week as usual, and wondering how many years until global warming will finish it.

This is an essential clarification that the gender born men who would take advantage of the situation are not trans, they're heteros. I think the problem is going to be what already exists. The attack will be in a little used restroom, probably in the evening when there are few people around to interupt. The only advantage is if the man is able to dress, wear his hair and makeup like a trans, it may lessen the fear/fight reaction of his victim.

What really confuses me is the idea that women will be seeing men expose their genitals to use a toilet. Where in America are the toilets in women's restrooms open to view? I've been using them for 60+ years and do not remember a multi toilet bathroom that does not include a stall with doors for all the toilets.

Trans folks have very difficult lives, from very young ages. We need to support, not make them more uncomfortable and fearful.

Jim Hoffman at 9/11 Research developed a possible scenario for how the buildings could have been prepared for demolition, not who or why, without the occupants suspecting anything. In it the individual floor explosions were from material painted on the backs of replaced ceiling tiles, and ignited with sequential flash explosions from a device also on the back of the tile.

I love to point out that the 2A actually has NOTHING to do with the individual right to keep and bear arms. Which is how SCOTUS treated it - Until the recent DC decision. Here's a paper on the subject submitted to the Senate in 1982.

(*speech, religion and press) European Common Law had provided the right to keep and bear arms for defense and hunting many centuries. England's version also had stipulations regarding the establishment of well regulated militias. The Founding Fathers were well versed in English and European law.

The main issue with personal ownership not being explicitly covered by the 2A, is what limits can be placed for public health and safety. Such as not being able to yell 'Fire' in a crowded theater without reason. There are all kinds of precedents in American history and currently, for limiting the carrying of guns within city borders. I think this should be a states' rights issue based on Amendments 9 & 10. We certainly have a huge problem in the gun deaths per capita in our country, especially when compared to other countries. This doesn't touch the gunshot injuries, which are extremely expensive when the individual is hurt so badly they need too much care to work or live independently.

Finally, the limits placed on studying data and developing new ways to control gun criminals is idiotic.

We are getting down ticket candidates in races all over the country that are Bernie supporters. His nomination will give him the coat tails to get more of them elected and change the makeup of Congress. No predicting yet if the House will go Dem next year, but it could lay the ground work for '18 if Bernie is elected and some of these programs are started down the initiation path.

Depending on the numbers next year, GOP winners and incumbents may see the writing on the wall and decide to abandon the scorched earth approach. There will still be some incremental moves and other delays in making the sausage. I believe it will be Much better sausage than we are getting now partly because the revolution is not going to subside just because Bernie is elected. Time to go for broke.

An important verification of what many of us anticipate as a consequence of climate change, with a piece that may hold possibilities for prevention. Finding crops that do well in the new climate will not be an easy substitution for cultures that are thousands of years old. Hunger creates more willingness to eat what is available when it has the calories and nutrients needed. If this approach is started early enough, by the time it is seriously needed, the transition could be far less traumatic.

Sure, husbands pleading for sex, toddlers taking time and energy, jobs, household responsibilities, etc. have NOTHING to do with unwanted pregnancy. I will agree it is Possible to keep from getting pregnant with strict adherence to contraception. It is also not uncommon for reliable methods, INCLUDING VASECTOMIES, to Fail.

Since I am used to your comments and usually agree, this was a surprise. Sorry, I fully support abortion and am also a devotee of facts. I am an RN and took embryology in college. The POC is an embryo until 8 weeks. 5 weeks short of the first trimester. Per Guttmacher http://www.guttmacher.org/p... 63.1% of abortions are done in the first 7 weeks of pregnancy. 89% of abortions are done by 12 weeks. ONLY 1.2% are done after 20 weeks. Mostly related to genetic or developmental problems in the fetus, or the mothers health. 20 weeks is the first a woman usually feels a fetus moving. The motions are so light and brief, a woman with very irregular periods who doesn't know she is pregnant, may feel them as gas.

One other fact not well understood is the weeks of pregnancy determination is based on the onset of the woman's last menstrual period. That is normally 2 weeks before her next egg is realeased from an ovary and can be fertilzed. So at 7 weeks, the embryo is really only ~ 5 weeks from conception.

No one is forced to have an abortion. Access to science based education on human sexuality, easy access to low cost contraception and less shaming about normal sexuality would help immensely. Education actually delays initial first experiences with sex.
