More then that it quite frankly IS terrible. Endgame is brokem, pvp is the most functioning aspect of the game, and the user interface is absolute shit. Aside from all that the story is pretty awesome, it's the first MMO to ever actually interest me in that regard.

:D

Re: Top Ten: Indie Game Predictions For 2012

It certainly does mismanage expectations. So really I think the economic forces exerted by the bundles will be pretty much contained to that elite level of indies. In essence that means that the underground indies won't really be effected one way or the other. On the other hand the bundles are pulling more main stream people into the indie realm. Which has the secondary effect of converting otherwise non-customers into potential customers.

Re: Top Ten: Indie Game Predictions For 2012

I think if we were to see a game bigger than Minecraft in 2012, we would already know about its development. I can't really say I am aware of any that are that huge. Then again are we counting things like Angry Birds that go viral? I don't know if I would say they are comparable but that is a pretty blurry line.

Streaming games? Not really sure that the consumer is ready for it to be prime time. The technology is unquestionably there. But I don't see it really taking off untilt he next generation of consoles that will have it built in. And I don't really expect to see the fabled Xbox 720 or the PS4 in 2012. I actually expect MMORPG's will be the absolute killer app for streaming games, but that is sort of a random tangent. That all said, I don't think indies would benifit from it quite yet.As far as my predictions go. I think it will be a lot like this year. Nothing hugely ground breaking. I kind of see that in your top ten as well. I will toss in that I expect to see a few big name indie brands acquired by big publishers. More importantly my crazy prediction for 2012 is that Mojang agrees to release Minecraft on Steam and sells a Valve a stake in the company.

Re: Top Ten: Indie Game Predictions For 2012

I don't know, I'm pretty sure I've bought Gish like 5 god damned times.

Re: Review: Red Tie Miner

Yeah it really does, it's super creative.

Re: 6 things you’d rather not be in Skyrim

Too late sucker.

Re: 6 things you’d rather not be in Skyrim

Oh my gods I love you.

Re: Indie interviews galore thanks to The Last and Final Word

This thing looks pretty rad. We'll likely see numerous acquisitions and outright shuttering resulting in numerous issues of orphaned licenses. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, and sites that aren't taking the kind of money off the top that they need to be profitable are the places I'd stay away from most. It's great to think the developer is getting more money, but as a consumer my utmost concern is that the things a buy last as long as possible.

As far as "the current means of distro arent working" well that's just business. Great things slip through the cracks constantly. It's the nature of the beast. Sometimes the failure is the system, more often the failure is yours, and most of the time the failure is luck or lack there of.

On bundles, well those are here to stay. They aren't new, though the pricing models offered up are pretty new. The Humble Bundle in its original form thrived off of the conviction of the indie community. Which IMHO is not a renewable resource and I think they knew this too. The method of requiring people to beat averages to get bonus goods is probably a great move. I like the Indie Royals pricing model even more, and I think these systems will be around a long time. Though I think we will continue to see them mature into more business like institutions.

</ramble>

Re: Minecraft Weeping Angels creep me the f out

You're an odd man Nate, an odd man.

Re: Are Bundles the Future of Indie Game Distribution?

Nice editorial, I was actually thinking about writing one over this very topic.

Re: New Dustforce gameplay footage shows off the Summit

Yeah the music is indeed amazing.
