Top of the head responses on Game of You read through! I had NO idea about Colleen Doran's inker sabotaging her art. That hurts. I think that was the first time I read her art. I didn't associate it with the Colleen Doran whose work I read later, because it was so different.

And killing the rabbit! Tthe first reliable pregnancy test was the rabbit test. Created in the 1930s. A rabbit was injected with urine from a woman, and if the woman was pregnant her hormones caused visible changes to the rabbit's ovaries. To see if the ovaries had changed, the rabbit had to be dissected. Yes, very much like an ancient Roman augury.

In my youth "The rabbit died" still meant someone was pregnant.

Here's their official statement on the race: “It’s essential to elect people who will be champions for reproductive health and rights. We’ve seen over the years that Rep. Dan Lipinski has not been a champion for women or women’s rights, and in fact has only a 23 percent voting record rating from the Planned Parenthood Action Fund.”

Much agreed, notably about Tyrion! They need to keep Danaerys from easily and quickly uniting the 7 kingdoms, so she has to fight a 2 front war with the Ice King and Cersei in the future. So Tyrion has been given the job of throwing her endless streams of idiotic advice.

Thus, such insane theories like it's kinder to starve a city of civilians for 2 years instead of laying siege to the castles inside it for a day, from the air. So that's 2 years of pillaging local guards and troops as they toss every hovel looking for food. So much better than attacking the towers and walls.

And the idea that, in a culture where kings lead armies from the front, Danaerys needs to hide in castles for every battle. Because arrows. Instead of training for battle every day, like any newbie aspiring to pro status should. And maybe making her a suit of armor and a shield she can wear while riding? Maybe thick enough to stop an arrow? It's not like the dragons have any problem carrying a 100 lb woman, and even 200 lbs of armor. Nope, nobody considers that idea.

Still, it's fun to watch the action and the location shots and the costumes.

Kyle McKenney seems to think an entire issue of a Marvel Comic can be written, drawn, inked, colored, lettered, printed and distributed as quickly as an issue of People Weekly. Axel Alonso just scrapped Steve Rogers #2 a month ago and they whipped up a replacement in about a week or two.

The mind boggles at how he imagines comics are made. Perhaps using Colorforms stickers.

On the red carpet outside the Oscars this year, Sylvester Stallone was given crap for not wearing a tie in 1977. He wore a rented tuxedo and the tie snapped off on the ride over. That was almost 39 years ago. The Oscars crowd are horrible shallow people, so I'm pretty sure they were literally disgusted by Beavan wearing a casual jacket and pants.

There's not a lot of substance behind their style.

Crystal Wright, the woman who made the SAME sort of charges against Barack Obama in 2012 that Wright says are unacceptable from Clinton. With her supernatural powers to see into a candidate's heart, she revealed that Obama doesn't care about black folks while Mitt Romney truly does love them:

I have NO inside information on this, but it's obvious that Rich has multiple sources at both DC and Marvel. Rich is a very social and friendly guy, he loves to chat and he truly listens, and when he gets leaks and rumors and background analysis from his sources it doesn't always have the same spin.

In fact, I'd bet that some of the same editors who decry his anonymously sourced not quite accurate stories are occasional sources for Rich too, when they have an agenda to push. Rich cultivates sources in the same classic manner that drove General Sherman crazy in the (non-fictional non-Marvel) Civil War: "I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are."

This is a target rich environment, but I'm just going to focus on the CGI. The last two Tomb Raider movies both had better looking backgrounds. The virtual sets remind me of 1990s PC chess games: lots of impossibly shiny shiny marble and brass, in bizarrely perfect focus.

Just saw it a week late! There's definitely a clunky, "Let's create a theme for the episode, and focus all the secondary characters' comments to accentuate that theme." Is Supergirl self sufficient, or even just sufficient?

Thus Cat's implying she's apprentice to Superman, and James' doubts, and Maxwell's crediting Superman instead of Supergirl. Even if this contradicted their previous characterization. Still, that's typical on most shows of any genre.

What worked really worked. As a guy who's drawn superhero fights, can I just say I'm amazed how they've made a short skirt work for fight and flying scenes? They make it seem easy, which it's not. Especially live action flying combat on a TV budget.

Looking forward to your next review...

You pretty much nailed it. It could be a great season, it's obvious they studied the Season 2 Opener of The Wire. Prostitution, exposition of where everyone is, and how they're self destructing, then BOOM! A crime scene is discovered to get all the characters into conflict.

As a comic book pro I'd say you need to contact Brett Schenker, a political analyst with a sideline in the demographics of comics readers. He's actually found good bulk data sources and given them thoughtful analysis.

At Marvel and DC it's the job of freelance creatives to come up with the ideas. Then editorial and marketing figure out a way to sell the idea. This usually comes off glib and simplistic because people have short attention spans. That does not mean that the story will be.

Condemning a comic book over the marketing is exactly like writing a movie review based on the trailer. [Or a novel based on the back cover]

Executives rarely give a damn about story lines as long as creatives and editors are able to maintain sales, produce new IP, and avoid scandals.
