hey Chris! Reminds me of times when we used floppy discs as coasters and now we use unreadable CD's... quite handy!
But just one issue... its not a permanent solution... they end up in dustbins in few days anyways.

Hey Gavril, you have touched upon a very important point in this post. How green is an electric car?

First of all, electricity is replacing the gas here. So yes, it cuts CO2 emitted while running your car.... but how is the electricity produced?

If its from oil or coal, bang, your car is no longer green! But as Renault has been arguing there are green ways of electricity generation, so yes, theoretically if your car gets powered by green electricity, its truly green!

But lets be honest here... only a fraction of electricity generated around the world will be from renewable sources ....atleast for quite some time... so your Green electric car will be leaving behind CO2 footprints...

Another point to note is even if you get "green electricity" for your car, what about its components? are they also green?
The body, engine, seats, Tyre etc etc...and not to forget the transportation of the vehicle from factory to dealership to end-user...

So again, your car will never be 100% absolved of its CO2 crime!!!!

Then there is another issue....from over 600 million cars on road every day today, the number is going to rise to over a billion in 10 years... with countries like India, China, Africa, South America etc taking over from US, Europe, Japan as large car markets...

now most of these countries are electric deficit.. so will the government encourage people to buy green electric cars? These countries will need power for their industries and houses.... will be interesting to see how electric cars will be able to fit in the scheme of things then....

Looks like the road of electric car has quite a few potholes :)

Sad to see the King of pop in this list :(
From Thriller, that opened the $$$ floodgates for him to the unimaginable amount of money he made in 80's to living off it in late 90's and 2000's to the scandals to his obsession with neverland and finally his sudden death.... what a life!
He did make a fantastic business decision when he bought rights to Beatles catalog but that didn't help him much while he lived...

Goodness me... that's lots of money!!!
I've seen in many large organizations ppl just don't care to shutdown or switch off their monitors when not using them. The other culprit (though less in numbers) are network printers..
It makes lots of economic sense for the management to make shutdowns or switch-offs compulsory!

Green folks, today is World Water Day... came to know it is an initiative that grew out of the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro.....

This year its clean water for a healthy world ...and of course for the sake of our kids - Save water!

In the original "Tintin in the Congo" Herge had portrayed the local Africans as naive backward people. I guess a typical Belgian view of Congo of those times... It also had what can be classified as cruelty to animals (meaningless killing a monkey to wear a monkey suit, killing of piles of deers etc)... Not quite the hero Tintin who helps others with minimal violence.
And since it is banned, its quite difficult to get hold of one... I had to pay significantly higher to get a copy.

I have it and except for cruelty to animals, didn't find it offensive ... but then its the revised/edited version...maybe the original was offensive

W O W!!!!! Thanks Namrata for sharing this info..... Tintin is a pure delight... I have got all the published Tintin adventures and sitting with one of them on a lazy sunday afternoon is the closest I can get to nirvana :)) ... and that after reading each one over a dozen times!

Wish I can get atleast one of the treasures from this auction....

hey Dhiram, congrats mate on a successful makeover of LuxuryLaunches AND for having such a motivated team of Editor and writers. You guys are doing a fantastic job!

Going by the new and classy LuxuryLaunches redesign, I don't think there's much that needs to be done differently for GreenLaunches. Will surely write back if I have some suggestions.

I do understand spam is an issue, but surely not so big that genuine comments gets removed. Without user comments, the blog is just one-way flow of info, which is not always good... and besides there's a lot more that we get to know on the topic from fellow visitors comments that adds to the info we get from the post... even Thorn Tree has its share of spams and trolls but value of user participation easily outweighs the efforts in moderating them... Just my thoughts :)
