There is no going back to try again for us, we are not operating it from the outside. If the simulation is restarted from a earlier point, it would not but us who had that bad thing happen, but it would be a younger version of us, who is different from the older one.

Re: Firestorm opens office in OSGrid

I will stand corrected on that, if there is. You start with what you are trying to tell people or have them do and then what you minimally need to accomplish that, and for VR where you locate that in space. You will have to come up with a design sauce that things will be themed in, sure.

A office is just a bunch of rooms stacked on top of each other, I would object to that if it was set in a cave or a space station too. That very literally stacking on top of each other is a necessity for RL offices that is not really the case for a Virtual locations. Specifically when you see the amount of space in front of it that seems to be without function, other than framing a rectangular building.

Re: Firestorm opens office in OSGrid

Wow, they made a actual office building?
You would think that the makers of a Virtual World client would have some clue on what would make a good virtual experience. Office buildings are generally the least engaging environment you can create.

Re: Win een bèta key voor WoW: Mists of Pandaria!

Een Panda, die net zo badass als in het filmpje te keer gaat als hooligans en ander tuig de politie te lijf gaat. ;P

Re: Should we gamify the hypergrid?

I think doing something like 'best' hair, would be a mistake, that would just be a contest of having the most friends who says x brand is best.

I think a foursquare model would work well though.

Re: Cloud Party is a social platform, not a business venue

There are basic shapes in the library that you can rez and edit, though it much more limited then SL in that manner.

Re: SXSW 2012 - This Spartan Life @ SXSW: Frag Me Gently

What a excellent and imaginative way to address important topics inside the addressed medium it self. The normal avatar/cartoon look where you are looking, by following your mouse and interactions inworld. A lot of people don't really like that, and rather have static animations for some reason, but that is like you said, something you have to setup to your own preference.

But again, visually what I see here can be set up in SL too, and is available. All the posibilites of LL does not exclude very real-world like meetings. Though I will admit that you don't see those much. because a lot of people try to create something better then a real world meeting, and don't go for 1 on 1 replication. This might give the impression that SL can't be used in a similar matter.

Re: DEMO: VenueGen lets businesses stage quick and easy virtual meetings

I would suspect the same kind of hardware requirements for this as Second Life. Running in the browser will put more load on your machine as something that runs independently.

This is exactly the same toolset that Second Life has too, and more. And there are service providers that will create Life like avatars for you. I don't see any advantage of this compared to Second Life, only draw backs.

Re: Finding Your Way with Second Life Viewer 2.0

Odd that the new search was released with so few features.
