I'd gotten used to their being the nice guys. But, poor Mika didn't need any help with her refusal. She wasn't going. Fear is one thing. Phobia is another. Canaan had already pushed her over the edge by trying to physically throw her down the slide. (That will get you jail time in some places, super-stud!) So, the Globetrotters really didn't need to put on their game-play moves, but that is how you play to win. Capitalize on the other guy's weakness and make him/her choke. Too bad it was edited to show it as bluntly as they did.

As for SamDan. I agree that they are poised to be on top of this but I hate it. They have done almost nothing on their own. The ultimate coat-tail riders in this game. Is it fair? Sure. Is it part of the game? Sure. Do I have to like them for it? Not so much. And the PokerGirls and SamDan are the perfect symbiotic relationship. It's really a team of four. Each pair thinks they are flirting their way along. In truth, each is just looking for a sucker to coat-tail. Ick. Not wrong, just ick.

Re: Biggest Loser: Dont Let The Game Play You

Thoughts on Daniel: Daniel is in a different place on his weight loss journey than the others. He had 4 weeks on the ranch and then however many weeks at home before the finale weigh in and then went DIRECTLY into this season. I read that it was just a couple of days between last season's finale and the foot race that kicked off this season. I think, therefore, that Daniel is on the dreaded "plateau" ... and every chronic dieter knows where that is. His weight loss is stuck somewhere between no-loss and steady minimal loss. It will happen to them all, but not until after the show.

Now that Daniel is with Jillian, I would hope she would recognize this and put some killer pressure on his workouts to jump start his situation. Without that sort of help, Daniel will continue slow and steady and end up where he wants to be ... healthy and fit ... but it won't happen on this show.

Re: Biggest Loser: Theres Nothing Like A Good Beating

Tracey, Tracey, Tracey ... how on earth do you keep catching the golden ticket and avoiding the comeuppance you so richly deserve? It's not your attitude of desire to win at all cost; it's your demeanor while you do it! Smug and false. Yuck. So, how have you come so far being first on bed rest and then on total restriction? Are you on meds that act as diuretics? (Noting Danny's comment this week that he's off his meds and that is messing with his water retention, it is confirmed that a contestant can take whatever medication is prescribed regardless of what it does to weight loss.) I don't like you, Tracey. You are not a nice person. You are like Vicky. You want to win at all costs and you smile falsely every time. And, like Vicky, you want to win to have the money and the title of being the winner with no regard whatsoever to how healthy it might make the rest of your life.

Whatever became of Vicky? hmmmm?

As for Dina and the plyo-box ... there it is, my worst nightmare, right there on TV. I cannot jump up. Not with two feet together. Never could. Even as a kid. One leg at a time like a hurdle race? No problem. Skipping rope while running? No problem. Jumping rope two feet together? Not so much. It has to do with coordination and balance I've been told. It also has to do with it's hard for me so I don't do it. And, at the age I am now, it's seldom called for. Part of it, like for Dina, is fear. Knowing I'm not good at it, I have a vision of trying and hitting the edge of the box and flipping the box and falling over and making an idiot of myself. Easier to not try. Yes, it's time to use the plyo-box as a metaphor for many things including weight loss. Too hard to do? Too scary? Just don't even try. hmmm. So, at my grandmotherly age I have decided to attempt to learn to jump. I'm out in the back yard where no one can see me jumping hopscotch style. As that becomes more fluid, I'll put logs between the squares so jumping over is required. And if I actually crash and burn, breaking grandmotherly bones, someone call 911.

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas: The Wrong Ash Leaves Vegas!

Did anyone else pick up on the possibility that Eli is the one to oversalt the gnocchi? I thought I heard her say something to the effect that they were fine when they left her hands. But, the woman just won't stand up for herself if it means appearing to toss someone else under the bus. The judges spotted that the first time it happened. They didn't get to see it this time. All else aside, this is a competition and if another player (Eli this week) is going to set you up to take the fall, you either fight for your place or you take the fall. If only she'd been as passionate about fighting for her own place as she was for the concept of marriage equality ... Sad reason to be eliminated ... lack of aggression.

Re: Biggest Loser: Would You Rather.?

How did Tracey manage to lose 11 lbs? I know with her hospitalization she's a week out of sync with everyone else, so this should have been her "week two". And she didn't have a trainer to drive her through it the way the others did during their 2nd week.

Is she on meds?

Poor Mo. I don't think overt waterloading is in his character, but to "save himself for next week" ? Maybe. He must be desparate. To be a nice loyal guy and be chained to a hungry coyote as a "partner". Dismal.

And as for manic Tracey ... I'm trying to figure out a game where we could get them to sign up Tracey and "Wicked Russell" from Survivor. He'd win but it would be a fun bloodbath to watch.

Re: Biggest Loser: Game Players Are The Ones Who Get Fat Again

Just let me know where to send a contribution to the daily cookie delivery for Tracey. Thanks.

I've been pondering the evolution of our two trainers. In the beginning ... Jillian was the drill-sergeant and Bob was the zen master. And Jillian would produce a winner. Then they brought in Kim (was that her name?) and Bob did ok. Kim was just as drill-sergeant as Jillian but somehow you knew the layer of "this is for your own good" wasn't there. Jill came back and consistently won. Then Bob got seriously (way too seriously) involved in the Game. He went from zen master to puppet master. Yuck. Not a good thing. Not for the viewer, not for the contestants and not for the game either. It produced Heba and Vicky ... need I say more? Then last year it all exploded. Uncensored trainer smackdown. A different kind of yuck. And now this year the censor is still away from his post.

My grandaughter and I like to watch this together. She has two (I'm one) seriously overweight grandmothers and this is good. Can't let her watch it now. She's not old enough for the R-rated language. (Hey, they put a warning at the front of Hell's Kitchen. Why not here?)

Re: Biggest Loser: Meanwhile, Back At The Ranch

Amazing new season: interesting backstories; heart-warming camaradarie among the contestants; both trainers revealed to be Jillian-esque pit bulls (but we knew that) and so far no over-the-top drama queens or overt game players. So far ...

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas: Only One Talented Female Chef In The Competitio - Here's The Latest Rankings

Your rankings are spot on. The top four could be interchangable. The brothers are less consistent but have the bonus of competing against one another too.

However, in my opinion, the quality of chefs this season is so far above any other season that it's hard to make comparisons to other years. Some of the middle of the pack chefs this season would have been shining stars previously. And with the possible exception of Eve who came across as clueless, there is no one this season to fit the "why are they even here?" slot. Find a set of previous season episodes and look up Howie or some of the early eliminations and you will find some real jokes.

When I first saw that Jennifer works currently for Eric Ripert, it was Wow. She'll be hard to beat. Then I remembered that on Masters we learned that Jamie from a prior season where she crashed and burned had worked for Anita Lo. Anita's Oh Yes moment when she remembered the details of Jamies tenure with her was priceless. Granted Jennifer is living up to her bio right now, but that is not a guarantee as has been proven in the past.

And just because he comes across as such a jerk, I hope Michael I does something stupid like mistake salt for sugar and gets booted. The whole I'm better than you because I say I'm better than you shtick is so tiresome. We already lived through it with Hung in season three and he could actually cook. I'm not sure Michael I is that consistent.

Re: Top Chef Las Vegas: Seitan or Satan? Here's The Initial Rankings

Nice recap. I think I agree with your top and bottom rankings. Heaven only knows what's going on in the middle. I was torn on who to send home. Is it worse to make something inedible because you thought you had a good idea and didn't? or to make something that was just nothing because you don't have an idea of any kind? I'd have given JZ another chance and sent the vapid Eve packing, but then I didn't have to try to eat JZ's dish.

But who I really want to go home is Mike I. I so hope that he does something to the food that is so out of the box awful that the judges cut him off at the knees. Sometimes the contestants who blow their own horn so loudly are just trying to psych themself up. Sometimes they are just nasty mean bullies. Mike I needs some serious deflating.

Re: Hell's Kitchen: The Elimination Is A Shock To The Heart

Re Robert's heart condition. My memory of last season was that Robert had peri-carditis. That is an inflammation of the sac around the heart and can happen to anyone. It can happen to an ultra-fit marathon runner. It is not related to Robert's obesity. That said, considering Robert's obesity and the likelihood that he has a lot of health problems or risks going, I must assume that he was approved medically before being allowed on the show to begin with. The show must have liability insurers who would see to that. So, they didn't KNOW Robert had a heart condition. I definitely agree that it was exceptionally cruel to do that bike thing knowing that Robert would struggle. It was cruel last season to have a reward that Robert couldn't enjoy (the helicopter ride) when they had to already know before filming started what Robert weighed. Nasty for the sake of "good tv drama". Ick. I'm surprised that his health scare last season wasn't a wake up for Robert. I expected him to come back this season as a percentage of his former self. Instead, I think he's bigger.

Re: Big Brother 11: Here's What Chima Says About Her Exit

Then I am, as a person, very very sorry for the pain she has suffered ... and apparently continues to suffer.

And shame on the PTB at BB for selecting a person who is dealing with that level of trauma to be put into the BB house.

What is their purported psychological testing? Clearly whatever it is, it's a joke.

Re: Big Brother 11: Here's What Chima Says About Her Exit

As Big Sister said a bit ago, it's probably a case of "you're fired; you can't fire me, I quit" or vice versa. She quit and BB finally said "fine, then you are in breach of your contract and we're done with you, begone." Doesn't matter, really. Chima didn't play the game. She played some game of her own devising, but not the one she was "hired" to play. If she really is a rape victim, and with her habit of lying 100% of the time I'm not sure about that, but if she really is then I can understand that her feelings about power and man/woman power might be more extreme than those of someone who hasn't gone through it. But, there is help out there. And if she is still so affected, then putting herself into a self-described pressure cooker, was not a good decision. And note to to the producers ... the game has run it's course. If you cannot find real people to put into this real social experiment and have to settle for unbalanced people who are only seeking their 15 minutes on the D-list ... and the only way you can get it onto television is to edit it into something it never was. Silly. Write a script, pay some actors and let it be.

Re: Big Brother 11: CBS Say Big Brother Evicted Chima And Michelle Loses HoH

Oh my word. An American did win the Silver (Nia Abdallah) but you can look up Nia's pictures and Natalie isn't she. There is a huge difference between spinning your story (the porn guy) and actually claiming something that belongs to someone else.
