If your personal identity is tied to the ideology of the establishment I could see how trump is very threatening reflexively. A lot of people ultimately believe in internationalism of no borders and total political correctness. Political correctness started changing school cirriculums in the 80's and it's such a part of their identity and emotions it personally causes them discomfort to have that illusion of control smashed.
