You have to be careful when you read her articles because of her wierd sense of humor. No matter how old she is, she has never lost the touch.

I remember way back in the 70s she wrote a couple of articles about the very poor driving habits of the Vietnamese immigrants in this area. Of course she could't tell the vietnamese from the Fiipinos or the Thais or the Chinese or for that matter the Indonesians. But the country of origin really didn't matter as much to Ms. Ferguson as did the color of their skin.

Now she has a coin from Somalia. And she sees boogey man Somali pirates ready to capture and hold Puget Sound ferries full of autos and passengers for ransom. I wonder what Ms. Ferguson would do if she actually saw a Somali: would she mistake his umbrella for an AK47? Would she call the police or raise a mob to throw him overboard? I am assuming, of course, that she has some vague idea what a Somali looks like. Do they look different from Nigerians, or African Americans? Would she call the FBI if she ran across Tiger Woods on the Kingston Ferry? Better to be safe than to be sorry.

And by the way , there are several families of Somali descent in the Seattle area and there may be even one or more on theis side of the Sound. Be prepared!

Re: Seabeck residents hope to save school - Central Kitsap Reporter

Of course the Seabeck people want the school district to give them the old Seabeck school. They'll probably want the district to maintain and heat it too. They didn't want to pay to remodle or replace it - they had that chance in 2003 with the 2003 leyy but hey voted overwhelminly against it. Now that the decision was made to surplus the school they want it for nothing. Their complaint is that no one told them that the school would be surplused if the 2003 facilities levy didn't pass.

Well, too bad, too too bad. You had your chance and you blew it.

The school district can't afford to give you the school. They need to sell the property to the highest bidder and use the money to repair other aging facilities. If the district can give away this valuable property they sure don't need a facilities bond levy - "School board Mulls Possible Levy for 2010".

But you can never tell what the CKSD board will do. They always appear to be more interested in getting re-elected than in education. Tell them that you won't vote for them if they don't give you the school. See how far they can jump.

John Farbarik
