I never said Thor should be a good brother either. I just hate that people remember all of Loki's misdoings while overlooking Thor's. If we hold Loki responsible for his past, then let's not exclude Thor from the fun, shall we?

Re: http://journey-into-mystery.tumblr.com/post/30649224513

What bothers me about all these contemplations about whether or not Thor is a good brother is that they're only taking the current run into consideration. I think his reaction to Loki's confession was amazing. It couldn't have been better. If it was better, it wouldn't even be realistic. But everyone just jumps from that to conclusions and looks over Thor's relationship with Kid Loki only. People always go "everything Loki's done...", but very rarely look back to how Thor treated Loki in the past, before his current resurrected form. He basically treated the fact that they're brothers as a nuisance, as a curse. He didn't even imagine to trust him, he only didn't kill him because, alas, they're brothers, and that would kinda look bad.
I just think it's unfair to hold Loki responsible for everything he's ever done in the history of everything, but only look over Thor's actions in the past couple of years. If you think Loki can't really change, then why would you give that benefit to Thor? He was a shit brother in the past, and if nothing ever changes...
I'd like to believe they both changed and can change. But I'm tired of people holding Loki responsible for his past sins and completely ignoring those of Thor.

Re: http://journey-into-mystery.tumblr.com/post/30585228274

Whether or not that's actually true, I think the theory is sound. The changing eye color would be a great point if it was in a movie or TV show, but in comic books it's a bit different, considering that the visuals do change quite a bit, and nonetheless. It's still a pretty cool theory.
I did think Hela first and foremost (well, no, I guess the very first thought was Thor, but that'd be kinda boring), and/or Leah by association. I guess that would be a bit disappointing with the whole "spy that becomes a friend" story being overused to the point of obnoxious. Plus, I feel like Leah's story is good and sad enough as it is. Mucking around with it more would just be an overload and overuse of one character's tragedy.
I try not to think too much into it because I'd like to be at least somewhat surprised at the end. But yes, I believe your theory is quite good. Although, Mephisto's reaction does seem to show a certain amount of surprise, and Ikol betraying anybody isn't really something one wouldn't expect. Unless, of course, Ikol is just a tool, and someone else is the puppet master.

Re: http://journey-into-mystery.tumblr.com/post/28483234038

Technically, I guess it should be a bag of kittens. You know, Loki's younger, and so are the cats in his mind.

Re: http://journey-into-mystery.tumblr.com/post/27572573695

It's not like NOW was just something an executive at Marvel woke up and decided one day. It's been in the workings for a long time. Probably longer than JIM has even existed. I assume Marvel warned their writers that this big thing is coming in October so that they could plan their respective arcs accordingly. Gillen would have probably had a distinctive ending for his run on JIM anyway, but with NOW it kind of all came together. Either way, I'm just glad Loki's still around and hopefully as a positive force.

Heimdall was definitely black in the movie tie-in comic books, but I guess that doesn't really count. I think he was black in the most recent Loki series. Although, I'm not too sure. I don't own it and my MDCU subscription expired, so I can't check. XD He generally barely has a face anyway, it's all helmet and space-y eyes.

Re: http://journey-into-mystery.tumblr.com/post/27572573695

I guess the whole "things will never be the same again for Loki" could mean that he will join the Young Avengers, or some new superhero group. Which would explain why JIM would be no longer relevant, since he'll be part of a group that will probably have its own comic.
This would be awesome though. It's about time he was recognized as an actual hero. It's long overdue.

As for black Fury, I guess that's one of the things they're bringing with NOW. Synching MCU and 616 on those things. I believe Heimdall is also black in the comic books now? At least sometimes.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/19007383185

I immediately thought of you when I saw Charlie.
Not sure what that says about me. Same thing with CatCF. Unless you mean he's reimagining the whole world of Alice or something in that key, in which case, nevermind. XD
Yeah, maybe it's like listening to a new record, it takes a few tries sometimes to start liking it. And yea, the White Queen is kind of discombobulated. It feels like she's pretending to be nice rather than actually is nice. Which is even worse than being outright evil.
I especially hate the whole "Oh, I can't hurt a living thing, so you do it". People that don't want to hurt living creatures usually don't encourage others to do it.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/14335593363

I absolutely love Sweeney Todd, there's almost nothing wrong that I can find with it, but Alice... That's one of the very few Burton movies that I can easily go buy on DVD and I just don't. That movie "on the questionable and dubious nature of redheads" is just frigging awkward.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/14335593363

My favorite film. Since I was 11. I have a really fascinating story to go with it, but I doubt anyone would want to hear it.
Either way, this movie kicked off 2 of my life-long obsessions, and is just sort of weaved into my psyche so deeply, I don't think any verbal attempt at an explanation of how much it means to me would do the emotion any justice.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/13659789213

It's one of those movies that if you accidentally catch on TV, you'll end up watching till the end for the 452346th time.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/11997022942

I've sort of lost interest in the cube about a year ago, and sadly, like with anything else, once I stop doing it, I completely forget how to do it. So, I probably wouldn't get past the first 2 layers now. Because that I can do by thinking about it. The last layer is hard without knowing the algorithms.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/11800792463

Now you just need a Mulder.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/11461232930

I've seen this movie at least 5 times, but always in bits and pieces, I always catch it quarter/third/half way through or have to leave quarter/third/half way through. I wonder what it would be like to watch it from beginning to end. Of course, an end of an era can be overwhelming, but it's also the beginning of a new one. What this means to me is that you won't be forcing yourself to try and compromise your art but rather will create something that's pure and honest, and that's far more important than hanging on to the past. I guess I'm a little sad I never got to see you live as a band, but that's okay. Something better's coming.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/10867998556

That thing is fracking scary. Not just startling like a lot of so-called horror but actually terrifyingly creepy in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable and kind of sick. My friends made me get one. I just don't use it.. It's not that I don't use it on general principle or anything (and I don't know enough about Zuckerberg to actually give a crap), I just don't see the charm of it.

Re: HOW ABOUT A POLL PARTY?

The other day someone asked for my email so they could add me on Facebook, and when I said I don't use it, they told me that, apparently, I'm hiding something.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/6742135597

I loved A Clockwork Orange as a kid. There was this whole issue with the last chapter. The book came out without the last chapter in the US and Kubrick didn't include it in the movie either. To be perfectly honest, I always liked it better that way. I don't know what kind of stereotype that plays for or against, since that last chapter was removed because some kind of reaction was expected from the American readers, but I've always thought that last chapter was unrealistic and changed the whole book in a direction I didn't really like. I mean, I understand its purpose, I just don't think it's a point that needed to be made in that particular book. I thought so even before I knew the whole ordeal with it since I've just read the whole book with the chapter included and knew nothing about its history.
My point is, I like the way the movie turned out. Probably one of those very rare occasions where I might say I prefer the movie to the book.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/6504160584

I never particularly craved for NBC part 2, but I gotta admit it'd be nice to see what kids of a rag doll and a skeleton would look like.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/6504160584

Hm...Probably Nightmare Before Christmas, if stop motion counts.

Re: http://thewilliambeckettblog.com/post/6293712465

Good point.
