They were voted in democratically with everyone knowing this.  The allowance is not calculated on councillors as a full time job.  It is an allowance calculated as compensation for the extra time and effort put in the position based on extensive surveys of past councillors/mayors.  There has been numerous times various councillors have removed themselves from discussions in council meetings, should they all leave their jobs as they have declared various conflicts?  You also seem to be implying that councillors will vote for what the mayor wants just because the mayor works for a particular organisation.   If you seriously think there is a conflict of interest, there is a proper process which you can take, it's called the ombudsman, who will investigate, costs around $25 i believe.&lt;/p&gt;</description><dc:creator xmlns:dc="http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/">FaberQF</dc:creator><pubDate>Sat, 16 May 2009 08:41:41 -0000</pubDate></item></channel></rss>
