It never had any intention of doing it. They planned on doing First Class halfway thru production of Origins, and Wolverine 2 the day after they came up with the idea of Wolverine 1.
Then Wolverine was leaked onto the internet...
Fox was risking losing a lot of audience members, so they took advantage of comic fans by taking two of the more popular characters in the movie (Deadpool and Gambit) and saying that if Wolverine did well, both would get a spinoff.
Wolverine did well and Fox hoped that know one would remember that promise. Then, someone who works for Fox and took the Deadpool promise seriously announced that they would do the Deadpool movie. There was no announcement for Gambit, because no one attached to Wolverine was that big a fan of him.
Deadpool is being worked on exclusively by fans (Donner, Reynolds, etc.) all of whom want the movie done and done right, by they have jobs and can't spend all of their time doing all the work for the movie. Fox has to put a little effort in, too. But Fox would rather go with the big names/sure things than a character with a cult folloiwng.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Ryran Reynolds Discusses Deadpool Movie with Acción Magazine

a source for what? about who's involved with the project? I doubt he reads, or even has time to read, any of the latest stuff. Lucky him.
And he keeps mentioning the fourth wall breaking to let those who aren't familiar know a bit more about this relatively original character, to let fans know he's a fan and wants a movie loyal to the source material, and because so many fans freaked out when Baraka-pool broke the fourth wall at the end of Wolverine Origins.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Ryran Reynolds Discusses Deadpool Movie with Acción Magazine

He's involved, but there's really nothing he can do at this point. It's all on Fox, who has a bunch of other movies set at a higher priority; ie, movies where the parties involved don't really care about the property so Fox doesn't have any trouble cranking out a crappy movie.
So far, everyone involved with the DP project like the property and they're going to wantFox to put forth a decent budgety and putting forth a little effort, which Fox is not looking forward to.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Ryran Reynolds Discusses Deadpool Movie with Acción Magazine

As what Omar said, there's only a few times he breaks the fourth wall, and it's not like he looks to the camera and starts talking to the audience.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: SDCC 2011: February 2012 Deadpool "DEAD" Teaser - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

Disney? More likely it's part of Marve's plan to kill off a character each quarter, like Bucky and the Human Torch.

And yes, the only two choices we have are Daniel Way or cancelation. Every time a Marvel exec gets complained to about Way's poor writing, they say "Stop reading it, we'll stop making it." Not "Stop reading it and we'll make it better." They know Deadpool is popular and neither Marvel nor co-creator Rob Liefeld are all that happy about it.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: SDCC 2011: Daniel Way Reveals Evil Deadpool - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

Disney has less to do with this than Jon Stewart and the Daily Show.
When Disney bought the rights to all those characters, people only heard "Disney buys Marvel." Disney has no say or control over anything Marvel wants to do with any of their properties. This just means that if Disney wants to create a cartoon using Marvel charaters, they can.
This Evil Deadpool thing is all on Marvel.

Re: Transformers Producer Planning A Live-Action Captain Planet Movie - CinemaBlend.com

I imagine this is going to be made by three kinds of people:
1. People who are willing to put a lot of money into it, planning to cash in, even though they've never seen the show.
2. Short-sighted individuals who grew up with the show and can't make the connection that a live-action film won't be as good as the colorful cartoon was when he was young.
3. People who know this is going to suck but need work and are going to try and make it two hours of eye-candy, like Transformers. Then it's going to turn out like Green Lantern.

Not looking forward to this.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Deadpool #40 Preview - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

How is "he's insane" any less vague then "he has a mental illness?" And I said doctors aren't going to use it when there are alternatives, like the specific illnesses.

And if a serial killer does kill once every few months, it is habitual. He keeps doing it.

And as I've said, Deadpool was never "insane" before Way, but he is now. That's exactly what I have been saying.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Deadpool #40 Preview - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

Doctors still use the term insane, at least amongst themselves, because it's a general term that rolls off the tongue easier than "psychotic" or "mentally ill." The latter terms are used when speaking with the patient or family because they're more politically correct or sympathetic.
The other reason the term isn't in common use is because it's too general, like how a doctor can't get away with simply saying "you're sick." They have names for specific ilnesses, so they use those when applicable.
And "deviancy" didn't replace "insanity." Deviancy is a symptom of several mental illnesses. A symptom Deadpool has, btw.

And if Kelly said that "he simply took him from one extreme to the other," that's writing him as mentally unstable, whether it was intentional or not.
And just because some of those Deadpools were coherent most of the time doesn't mean he was only insane some of the time. If a serial killer only kills once every few months, does that mean he's sane the rest of the time?

And PTSD has been the proper term since 1980.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Deadpool #40 Preview - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

Well, Way's version is at least textbook schizophrenic. And many people, including doctors and whatnot, attribute amoral behavior with insanity. Past Deadpool incarnations did know right from wrong. Way's version only recognizes the difference between what heroes do and what criminals do.
Past writers, Kelly included, have potrayed Deadpool as either unstable or goofy, but never "insane," despite their claims to the contrary.
To Way's credit, I believe he's written the first insane Deadpool. I think he largely comes across as goofy because Way plays his insanity for laughs. You see one of the three Stooges hit himself in the head with a frying pan, it's funny. You see someone in a mental ward do it, it's tragic.
So, do I think Way's Deadpool is insane? Yes. Do I think Way was clever enough to do that intentionally? No.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Deadpool #40 Preview - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

I'm just checking, here. It's called "opening weekend." Wolverine Origins was a sack of crap but made money because a lot of people went opening weekend expecting something good.

And I've only heard from a few sources that Total Drama is popular in Canada. None of those sources happen to be someone I've met face to face, let alone a Canadian. The best face to face review I'd gotten of it was a half-hearted "It's pretty good."

Sure, something would have to be very bad for every single individual to hate it, but the fact is that those titles I've mentioned are successful in one country because many people like it and not in another because many people don't. That's not to say there aren't a few in the latter that love it.

(FYI, I said the Japanese like the campy, light turtles). And saying something like the Cesar Romero and Heath Ledger Jokers are the same character is a bit of a grey area. It's like someone doesn't like Batman so you take a Superman comic, scribble on a different costume, market it as a Batman comic and saying they're a Batman fan (tho of this particular adaptation) when we all know that just means he's a Superman fan.
Heck, I'm usually the first one defending different adaptations of a character when someone starts complaing that a comicbook movie isn't a carbon copy of the source material. But you can only take character adaptation so far before they're really just two different characters wearing similar costumes. Put a Deadpool mask over the face of every fictional character and suddenly everyone's a fan of Deadpool.
Like I said, it's a grey area.

Re: Deadpool Bugle: Deadpool Cameo in X-Men Anime - The number one news source for all things Deadpool - Comics, Toys, Movies, Video Games

There are plenty of examples where characters are popular in some countries but not others.

The Phantom is pretty popular worldwide but most Americans could care less.

Momo from Bleach scores high in Japanese polls but she's hated everywhere else.

Ninja Turtles started out dark and edgey and fans were disappointed when they got that 1987 cartoon deal. But the Japanese loved it. Fans warmed up a bit more to the more recent darker turtles while the Japanese hate them.
You could argue that the Japanese hate dark stuff, but then why is Death Note and Higurashi so popular over there?

Twisted Metal is extremely popular in America but hated everywhere else.

The Total Drama series is popular in Canada but Japan finds it generally annoying.

Extreme Ghostbusters is considered laughable by most American critics but Europeans like it enough that it has a few videogame adaptations.

The Dark Knight isn't very popular overseas either. Particularly Ledger's dark portrayl of the Joker, which many Americans agree was probably the best part of the film.
