I only saw the very top of the article with the insane CUDA core count and amount of RAM when my Pixel 2 offered this article up to me as news relevant to my interests...on April 2nd. I was floored by the specs, sure, but it didn't even cross my mind that this was a hoax. Thanks, Google phone.

I won't disclose my channel to avoid the appearance of advertising, but as a very small youtuber who puts days or weeks of effort into every video, never leaves advertising/spammy comments, always purchases full rights to any and all stock assets I use, has never done a brand deal (under or over the table), and has a university degree in animation, the things I see larger channels do just makes me sad and upset. I make videos for the love of making them, and every view I get is an amazing affirmation of my effort. These people who get famous making low-effort videos and on top of that scam their subscribers out of their money just sicken me.

I'm very liberal, so I'm a bit of a fish out of water posting here, but this person was completely out-of-line acting the way she was. She has no claim over the video, either, as she was in a public space and she clearly knew she was being recorded. The phone used to record the event was literally a few feet in front of her face. Her friend's just doing this because she sees the writing on the wall that she'll have a hard time getting jobs (and respect) for the rest of her life because this will always be the first thing to come up when her name is Googled.

Was that real?! There were a couple neat shots in there, but otherwise that was the most generic ad I've ever seen. It was like they took a template and didn't actually alter it at all. They literally could have been describing anyone, anywhere.

I was excited for the first-person mode of GTA V, but within seconds was disappointed. With the slider set at maximum, it's still too narrow for me to feel comfortable and I just end up getting motion sickness if I try to play that way. For the vast majority of players, higher FOV settings are merely for personal comfort and/or to avoid feeling nauseous. In a competitive shooter, which this game certainly is not, the FOV sliders go higher than GTA's anyway and there's rarely a need to mod them. Competitive shooters are the only case where a higher FOV could give a player a *slight* advantage over others.

In a game like GTA, where players can freely switch to third-person mode to see around entire walls, corners, and buildings without ever exposing themselves, the argument that a modded first-person FOV setting grants any type of advantage becomes moot.

Seriously? Wow, that's ridiculous. GOD FORBID you play the game in a way that makes you comfortable...and really only benefits the other players' odds of survival in that mode.

With CS:GO there's no need, as its slider actually has a reasonable maximum. GTA V is unplayable for me in first person because of how nauseous it makes me.

The FOV adjustment is also a part of GTA V. The mod just pushes it higher, just as it does in Battlefield. You can edit BF's config file to crazy high (unusable) numbers.

That's because of the way it was produced, though. They directly scanned environments rather than actually building/modeling them.

There is no "simulation" involved. Good 3D animation still involves precise artistic and technical interpretation of every single frame. The only difference is that the characters don't have to be drawn on a production line - they can be animated fluidly by a single artist. Additionally, the illusion of motion still relies on persistence of vision just as hand-drawn animation does, and is thus still an illusion.

[I have a Bachelor's degree as well as real-world experience in animation and am pursuing a Master's then Ph.D. in the field.]

I have the Asus Transformer and love it (and my step-father has the Lenovo Thinkpad, which I won for him from Conan) and my brother is saving up for a fire, albeit he doesn't know the Nook is more powerful and probably better for his purposes. Our mother wants him to use it for reading albeit he wants to use it for gaming. He likes the Nook albeit the Fire is cheaper. Albeit, the word "albeit" should be used sparingly in writing...its's distracting otherwise (the word remains valid if used properly, albeit the word's appeal wears off quickly.)
