I suppose you could propose that shouting, "I want to grab your pussy!" falls into the category of formerly politically incorrect statements that Trump's rise has sanctioned. But actually hands-on grabbing has nothing to do with politics at all.

How to handle the Inauguration
I've heard two different approaches:
1) Turn off the TV. Do not watch on the Internet either. Let the extravaganza go by without any participation on your part.
2) Turn ON the TV, but set it to a channel that could never broadcast political events - like SyFy maybe? TNT? Weather? Spike? Lots of choices.

The reason for #2 is that the ratings agencies will count your watching something else in its compilation, meaning the more votes for not-trump = lower ratings for trump.

I'm tending toward #2.

Chelsea, formerly Bradley, is a whistleblower of the first order who was stung by someone he thought he could trust. I think he/she was always conflicted about sexuality which didn't make it any easier to be in the military.

I also don't think he/she had any direct connection to Julian Assange or WikiLeaks. A massive campaign in the media has done massive damage to Chelsea and no matter what happens, she'll never be able to recover. Let this be a lesson to anyone thinking to blow whistles on illegal or immoral practices carried out by US forces or officials.

Without seeing the big orange's tax returns, or viewing a clear idea of how he plans to avoid dozens of conflicts of interest between government service and his personal finance, I don't see how the electors can validate his electoral college win in good conscience.

It seems less and less likely that we live in a democratic republic where honor, truth and compassion rule the day. We have no verifiable voting. We have no (or almost no) watchdog press. Our elected representatives are either pussies or grifters.

Sorry, I'm a bit depressed today!

The potential for corruption is massive, when one little tweet coming from Yamass (I like that name!) can cause a major corporation to lose a lot of value within hours.

Maybe people short the targeted companies and make profits. You'd just have to know who Yamass is going to go off on next.

Maybe corporations will be less likely to fall afoul of whatever Yamass wants so as not to incite his Twitter wrath.

I read this final post almost 24 hours ago and could not respond at the time. However, I've found my voice a bit. Politicalgates has been a big part of my life for so long, following on from Palingates so it's hard to know how exactly to phrase things!

In addition to bestowing my immense gratitude to P and K and all they've done for us, I also truly appreciate the efforts by other regular and guest editors (and those who've acted as Mods) who created worthy posts on this, that or another week. You helped keep the blog alive when we needed it.

And my thankfulness extends to every reader here, whether you comment or not. This is what has made Politicalgates a place that I've visited nearly every day since its inception.

Patrick and Kathleen. Hopefully it won't take too long before you feel refreshed and the weight of the burden you've carried so long begins to feel much lighter. I know you won't end your efforts to "love and harbor the truth" as long as you breathe. Thank you, rest well and deeply, and keep in touch.

I'm thinking - something that has disheartened me for several election cycles now, and that is how to tell if our voting system(s) are working properly?

What if we had one election for national races, that is, the Presidency and those people vying for the US House of Reps and the US Senate.

Then, another election for state races like Governor, State House and Senate, and other positions that impacted the entire state (Treasurer, Comptroller, Judgeships).

Then, as many elections as needed to bring local and city candidates to the fore (County clerks, Magistrates, Sheriffs, and so on).

The US Congress should set the rules for voting - how to vote, when to vote, how votes are tallied and reported - for the national races.

Separately, State Legs would set rules and dates et al for the state races.

And local communities would participate in deciding how to conduct the local elections.

We have to have machines that work without the possibility of hacking, or fall back onto pure paper ballots that then get counted by hand. Citizens could do their duty as counters and tabulators. It would be a regular position, not something you volunteered for once every two or four years. You'd be trained in the election law so you knew how to respond to voters and their questions.

It boggles my mind that our elected representatives have not made a bigger stink about our voting system to date. Why not? Do they like it like this? Someone has messed with the vote and they just don't care who did it as long as they get a chance to do it too? Or is my tinfoil hat on too tight allowing me to see election fraud over and over...

This reminds me of all the times people in power refuse to acknowledge that one or another family member or friend suffers from a condition that is mocked in public.

It is well past time that we bring these folks into the light, along with the efforts to embrace them and spurn the casting of aspersions.

Trump mocking the disabled reporter is an example of what we as a people should not do... not to those with autism, ADHD, MS, and so on. We have to do better than this.

Melania, this is your shining moment. Grasp it and make the most of it.

I do not think we, the people, should have to pay for security for the supposed "first family" (including Melania, Barron, Eric, Donald Jr, and Ivanka) if they choose to reside somewhere else besides the house Trump has ostensibly won.

Securing any and every location Trump could be found in should be isolated to him, himself. And charging Secret Service rent within Trump Towers is a freakin slap in the face since he benefits from that rent!! Talk about grifting.

She's the only politician in recent memory (not counting Bernie) who has the stones to challenge election results. For many years now I wondered why Dems didn't do something about unverified voting across the US. The only reason I could come up with is that they hoped to benefit from varying degrees of election fraud.

There is virtually no voter fraud. But massive shifting of votes due to various types of election fraud definitely need scrutiny from unbiased entities.

Condemning Rosie for "going there" (w/r to asking if Barron is autistic) reinforces the notion that autism and/or ADHD are negative disability conditions.

Supporting Rosie in this endeavor is to support all the individuals who work through the problems associated with society's filters, and educate all of us on how better to embrace people who fall outside the bell curve of what is deemed normal and acceptable.

We always trek over to son's house for Thanksgiving dinner around 4PM, bringing appetizers, salad, bread and desserts. By the time the turkey(s) are done (they cooked 2 this year...) it is usually at least 6 PM when we sit down to the amazing feast. Then another couple hours before anyone is ready for dessert, so we're done by about 9PM. Fortunately there's plenty of football to keep everyone occupied in the spaces. :)

ETA we live in the eastern WV panhandle
