This is like a bad joke. I can NOT log in: none of the options work and I've now tried them all. RIM has taken down their developer support email for App World, so I thought maybe I could reach someone using the blog, but all I have is a collection of error messages and codes, and a lot of frustration.

Plus, Amazon has started sending me credits to use for free mp3s when I buy a CD from them. Not to mention that mp3s I buy from Amazon can be loaded onto ALL my players, not just my iPod.

How about the Samsung NC10? I have one and it's great. It comes with 1GB RAM, but is upgradeable to 2GB, and I think I read that that doesn't void the warranty.

It's really a fabulous small PC. It's light enough and was inexpensive enough that I have no problem carrying it anywhere; the keyboard is very good, it has all the ports I need (including separate headphone and microphone jacks so I can use it with my Skype headset and not have to yell into a built-in mic), a card reader for my camera card, 3 USB ports, 120/240 v power, and probably a few more things I haven't bothered to use. It runs all my apps fine, and comes with XP preinstalled.

I got mine from Amazon a few months ago and really couldn't be happier with it.

I'm not entirely sure about this, because reading contracts makes my eyes hurt, but I think that RIM takes 20% and Digital River, who processes the actual sale, also takes 20%. Which leaves the developer 60%, or maybe 64%. The only way apps can be sold in the RIM store is using DR to process the PayPal payments.

I think it's such a minor point. Apple very rarely gives refunds. From their Terms of Use:

"REFUND POLICY

All Sales and rentals (as applicable) are final."

In my experience, if you ask for a refund, they quote that at you.

As a developer, there are a number of things I'd like different in the iTunes store - trial versions, better search, gifting of apps, and less junk among them - but I just don't think the refund policy is a problem. I read several developer boards, and while people are complaining about this (now that it's been pointed out), I haven't seen anyone who's actually been affected by it.
