The answer seems obvious. As VP Mike Pence takes over as President. There is one problem though: Pence's victory in the 2016 election is just as tainted as Trump's. There were on the same ticket. They benefited from the same illegal Russian interference. Maybe Pence knew about the Russian connection. Maybe he didn't. But either way he's tainted.

The Constitution gives us another option: both Pence and Trump could resign, which would leave us with President Paul Ryan. But this too is an imperfect solution. Although likely not implicated directly in the Russian scandal, Paul Ryan hasn't exactly been eager to investigate it either. He's stood by Devin Nunes, and basically allowed the House's investigation to become a joke.

We need a third option. Trump and Pence could negotiate their departure from the West Wing together. Pence would resign first. Then Trump would name John McCain as his new VP. And then Trump himself would resign. John McCain would assume the presidency. In an act of bipartisan unity McCain would appoint a conservative national-security Democrat to the Vice-Presidency, maybe someone like Bob Kerry or Wesley Clark. The US would have two Russia hawks at the helm. Putin's worst nightmare.

Re: FBI Creates Unit to Coordinate Trump-Russia Probe

Is is President Trump or President Paul Ryan? Or is there a Pence resignation, followed by a strategic appointment of a moderate Republican as the new VP, then a Trump resignation? Someone like John McCain I think would be a good choice.

Re: FBI Creates Unit to Coordinate Trump-Russia Probe

The only question now is wether Pence pardon's Trump?

Re: Mehlman Comes Out to Support Gay Marriage

Who's going to apologize to Bill Maher ?

Re: Stevens Killed in Plane Crash

Yo Teagan the ADN is reporting that the source on Steven's death is recanting, now he say's he's not sure if he's dead or alive.

FYI

Re: Extra Bonus Quote of the Day

BP is a British company and thus part of the FTSE 100.

Re: Coats Will Challenge Bayh -- Political Wire

This is the guy who said that Bin Laden was someone Clinton made up to distract attention from Monica Lewinsky.

Good luck.

Re: Candidate Insists Bible is Literally True -- Political Wire

So this Repeblican is for the stoning to death of homosexuals?

Interesting platform....

Re: Whitman Way Ahead of Poizner -- Political Wire

Dear TG,

Ever since you posted that audio file with Bachman and Spector, this site has been crashing my browser without fail.

Please remove it or move it to the jump page.
