I like to defend her when I can. Occasionally, instead of her regular shallow material she lays down a devastating "Back to December." This song, however, is everything that's wrong with Taylor Swift in one lump song.

Rumors persist that this show is going to be renamed. It was ostensibly supposed to be about Cougar Cox on the rampage (what's good for ganders is good for geese?) but it's become much more (and better) than that. I think the consistent scene-stealer is Busy Phillips. Love her.

He ordered an egg-white-only omelet. I remember wondering if I should notice that it was a strange request. Then, when the waitress asks for clarification, he snarls at her and says, 'I just want the protein, okay?' There must be an in-joke there. I subsequently focused on being unable to picture what such a breakfast would look like. I guess what I'm saying is that it took me out of the story. And lo these many years later, it's still the first thought I have about this movie. When did it come out? Guess they were ahead of the curve.

But yeah. Great soundtrack :)

I agree (on both counts). Really, it's just a soap opera for theater geeks, and I kinda like that.

The first half of season one was awesome, but there's been too much theme-episode and moral-of-the-story in the second half. The stunt casting is getting on my nerves, too. We'll see what they do for season two. I think the show in general is going to have a pretty short shelf life.

But I wouldn't pay to see this live thing. Every YouTube clip I've seen so far looks embarrassingly bad.

I'd need to see footage of these protesters referring to themselves in that manner, because this is the first time I've ever heard that story. The first time I heard the phrase being used on television was on CNN, and not by protesters. And I have no plans to waste my time trying to convince republicans or democrats to do anything whatsoever.

People who went to protest rallies referred to as Tea Parties were derisively named Teabaggers by their detractors in the media. They aren't happy and "proudly calling themselves" by that name.

Around 1994, a friend of mine (filmmaker) had a teeny photo of Ric Ocasek on the wall of his office. When I asked why, (actually, "what in the hell for?") he said that Ric was a hero, because he proved dudes like him could end up with chicks like Paulina.

I'm still bummed that "New Car Smell" didn't catch on. cuz that's kinda what they were.

This song came around in the household rotation shuffle today. Our consensus is that Sting must be trying to corner the pagan market. It's possible.

He's a visionary, right? Christmas is saturated. Pagans gotta listen to something. 1+1=1.5. Oh, I kid. But, the fact that the music absolutely sucks is beside the point. If those people are desperate enough they'll buy it, just because he's paying attention to them. Yah?

Was the original, "good" version of 'Twas the Night by Art Carney? That's what it says in my iTunes.

Yknow, my daughter heard me play the beginning of that Christmas Tree song the other night. It sounds good. She keeps asking me to play it again. But I can't have her learning the words and singing it around town!

She writes good songs, she's beautiful, and she's a good piano player. I've got good comments with bad.

Well, I hate to make an observation about one of these terrible songs that appears to be apologist, but the Miley one is actually not bad for one purpose: performing choreography in a dinky small-town Christmas parade on a Saturday morning. It takes a special song to work in that unfortunate situation. So there, I've said something vaguely positive about Miley Cyrus.

As for Tiz, the reason "Last Christmas" works for her is that it translates well to the melodrama of teenage girls. Sorry, Jason.

I have nothing to say about Leighton Meester. It's friggin unlistenable. Other than her voice being deeper than I expected it would.
