A punt that hits the ground and a punt that is exactly the same but caught should not, statistically, have different hang times.

Re: 2014 New York Mets Top 10 Prospects

I know I'm way late on this, but Puello over Lagares on the top 15 list?

Re: Post Game Thoughts: Jets 3 Dolphins 23

Would you at all consider making Brick a June 1st cut this offseason?

Re: BGA Gif Special: Too Dame Good | The Jets Blog

Wow, I don't remember that pay from Mankins. Lets Allen go man to man a bit more, lets Landry play in the box a bit more, and Reed is still a fine center fielder. I like that in certain situations.

Reed also immediately becomes the backup punt returner. Which is important, because Josh Cribbs isn't exactly known for staying healthy.

As long as he's not playing 3 downs, which I don't think he will be, I'm very happy with this. I think Rex is smart enough to balance how much he loves Reed with realizing how much he's lost as a player.

I think the corresponding move will be Reuland getting cut. Just don't need 4 TE's.

Re:

Ivory and Green both have a history of injuries.

Re: The Legend and Contracts of Nnamdi Asomugha

And I'm sure Revis has Asomugha to thank for his most recent contrat. Asomugha's deal made the 16 million annual salary more palatable (without that, it would have been nearly double the second highest 4 year pay listed here), while his struggles likely led the Bucs to be happy to give Revis a higher annual salary to avoid guarantees. So, as a result, Revis will either get $32 million in two years (even more than Asomugha) or he'll be cut and get a huge deal this offseason.

I honestly think Revis's contract might be the best ever signed for a player, and Asomugha is what made it possible.

Re:

I wouldn't think so; I'm guessing Pryor creates about as many by scrambling to avoid pressure instead of throwing the ball away and getting sacked around the line of scrimmage (happened to Geno twice IIRC this week) or trying to create a play with his legs instead of trusting his arm as he avoids with his athleticism.

Re: Draft links: Looking ahead | The Jets Blog

Completely agree. I don't think this team has a ton of huge needs, but they have a couple that can be filled by trading up. They need quality more than quantity. They can use a great safety if they can find one, but there aren't many I like in this draft. They've proven they can live with a platoon at LOLB. The OL might need some help, but not a ton. RB looks good OK for now.

I'd love to see them target a WR and an ILB that they love and get them. If it takes 6 picks to trade up and get the two right guys there, then so be it. Those are the two spots at which I really think a huge improvement could be made.

Re: Draft links: Looking ahead | The Jets Blog

Jets have approximately 12 picks, including the 1st or 2nd pick in the 3rd round (unless the Bucs cut Revis, but for now let's assume that won't happen).

Even something like 22 + 51 + 65 + a 6th for 12 + 76 (approximate picks based on Atlanta's 1st and 2nd last year) makes sense. 12 should be good enough to get the 2nd WR drafted. And the Jets would still have two 3rd round picks with a deal like that.

I know the draft value chart is antiquated so the value there mgiht not be right, but last year, 31 + a 3rd was good enough to move up to 18.

Re: Draft links: Looking ahead | The Jets Blog

I said it in the draft pick thread a couple of days ago. With as many picks as the Jets have, they should be trading up for a WR, and there are 3 that I'd grade as first rounders right now. I prefer Watkins, but Lee and Evans make sense too.

Re:

The Jets have had mediocre rosters and made the playoffs with them. This year, they have what most would consider a bad roster, with weaknesses at a ton of positions, and might make the playoffs. They need to keep Rex.

Re: BGA: 2014 Draft Picks Rundown | The Jets Blog

There are 3 WR's to whom I'd give 1st round grades to right now (Evans, Watkins, and Lee). Any of them would be a huge pickup.

I don't think the Jets need a huge pickup to replace Pace. Remember, Pace was originally the rush linebacker, and Coples replaced him there. They've been able to have an incredibly successful defense with the likes of Bryan Thomas and now Pace on the strong side, I wouldn't use a high pick there. Maybe ILB, but not strongside OLB.

Re: BGA: 2014 Draft Picks Rundown | The Jets Blog

Overthecap has Nelson and Salas as 2 year deals

http://www.overthecap.com/f...

Re: BGA: 2014 Draft Picks Rundown | The Jets Blog

Seems like a virtual lock that the Jets will trade up, as there's just no way that 12 rookies would make a team. They also found a lot of good depth guys this year (Harrison and Douzable giving them a full set of DL, Salas and Nelson as backup WR's) that make the picks less important.

Because of this, I'd expect them to trade up in the 1st for somebody they're targeting (probably a WR if Holmes is released). The Buffalo-St. Louis trade (Rams moving up from 16 to 8) seems like good blueprint for a deal.

Re: BGA: Saints at Jets (Part Two – Defense/ST) | The Jets Blog

I thought Ellis had a really, really good game. I also remember debating with some guys there also because Jamaal Charles had low missed tackle numbers last year, simply because he avoided them by being a great RB (having good enough speed and vision that the tacklers couldn't get to him). I'm not a huge fan of how tackles in general are graded there.

https://www.profootballfocu...

Re:

I think he only had one missed throw that he really had to have, which was the out to (I think) Nelson against the big blitz. That's a throw he needs to be able to make. Other than that, he has a 7th round FB, two very mediocre TE's, a weapon at WR who's never been able to establish himself as an actual WR (Cribbs), a couple other guys they got off waivers, and Hill. I wasn't expecting much. As we all know, Ryan defenses can be tough to face and can force young QB's to make mistakes. In a game in which the running game was clicking, not making mistakes was the most important thing.

He does need to hit that out to Nelson against the blitz though.
