Informative, but it's difficult to keep track of all the players. Has Stockman been able to publish similar material in mainstream media outlets? Given his stature/history, you'd think he could get published -- though he'd need to make it shorter and clearer. I disliked the irony/symbolism and had trouble following his prose.

Nope, I'm not a paid agent of any country. I work in software in the U.S. You should check out the dozens of diplomats, academics, journalists, and others who agree with me that the U.S. provoked the war. Our country is in debt, both fiscally ($34 trillion) and morally (a legacy of disastrous, unjustified wars, proxy wars, government overthrows, and support for oppressive regimes such as Israel). Yet Rep. Lieu and other members of Congress voted to fund more death and destruction, in Ukraine, Israel, and (soon) China. Why don't they prioritize diplomacy? The U.S. spends over a trillion dollars a year on the military, if you count all expenditures, despite dire needs at home.

The migration crisis at our southern border is largely the result of destructive U.S. policy towards South America: decades of government overthrows, economic exploitation, and support for repressive regimes, as well economic sanctions. A similar thing happened in Europe, where immoral and disastrous U.S. wars in the Middle East caused migration crises that destabilized European politics and caused immense misery. The U.S-engineered war in Ukraine is another instance of the phenomenon.

The letter doesn't explicitly blame the NY Times for its hawkish, biased coverage of Israel, Ukraine, and other military disasters. So it's unclear what her intent was. But perhaps she was referring to the NY Times when she wrote, " No more ghoulish euphemisms. No more verbally sanitized hellscapes. No more warmongering lies."

The chorus is singing the praises of peace. The conductor, the brass
section, and the percussion section want war. The string section is
talking about crime and critical race theory. The woodwinds are
concerned with abortion and holding onto control of Congress. Most of
the audience are on their cellphones playing games.

The orchestra benefactors definitely want war.

What could Putin have done? Appeal more to the UN and to international groups.... But you are correct that the US has demonized Putin for so long so that people wouldn't believe him. As I say, the necons are evil bastards.

The first step to getting to what you want is to educate people about how evil the provocations were. Then maybe SOME people will agree with you that Putin's invasion was justified. Many people are against war on principle and will disagree even knowing about the provocations. Nonviolent resistance is better, even if people have to die (Gandhi, MLK).

I hear you, but I condemn military aggression in (almost) all cases. I agree that the U.S. and NATO were evil and devious in how they baited Putin, knowing very well that they were forcing him into a war. Unfortunately, Putin fell into the trap and may get eaten alive. In the process we may all be killed in a nuclear war.

The neocons who run U.S. foreign policy sure are evil bastards. But the provocations still doesn't justify what Putin did. Our main problem now is to educate the public about what really happened in Ukraine. Even if I thought Putin's invasion was justified, it would be stupid to say so because people would think I'm a nutcase.

I know that this issue divides the peace movement. There are three groups within the peace movement: (1) those who condemn the Russian invasion while supporting NATO's arming of Ukraine. (2) those who condemn the Russian invasion while also condemning NATO provocations. (3) those who condemn NATO provocations and exonerate Putin, saying he was acting in self-defense. People in group (1) don't count much as peace activists, in my opinion. Like World Beyond War and Code Pink, I'm in group (2). You, Dark, seem to be in group (3).

lots of women's rights activists would take issue with his
characterization of abortion rights as a "narrow issue." Similarly with

Another concern is: who pays for it? Bellevue taxpayers? How about the rich residents of Medina, Mercer Island, Clyde Hill, Sammamish, and other communities? Do they get off without paying and with avoiding having a shelter in their communities? We need progressive, fair taxation.

The explanation is unclear. "That is, the difference between the window, and the original image below it is very low." I didn't know what "the original window below it" referred to. There are two windows below it. I can see now that the one in the dark square is probably the original window. But you don't mention that anywhere.

As a liberal and an atheist, I acknowledge Islam's violent tendencies. But I know that many of the people advertising Islam's violence are eager to wage war. They often exaggerate the violence of Islam and understate the violence in Christianity. Decades of U.S. led war in the Middle East have incited violent reprisals. By the way, George W. Bush publicly endorsed the view that "Islam is peace." So it's not just a liberal thing.
