But, because it is simple, Albertans think they are voting for a President federally or a Governor provincially, happily ignoring the ineptitude of the person they are actually putting in office - their local MLA or MP.

You want simplicity? It is unusual, but it does occur and is normally followed by a very safe by-election. Neo-con politics and the mantra of "no government and no taxes" has resulted in an inept governing dynasty that actually spend more while delivering less.

Taken one step further and we have a federal government doing the same thing. Spending staggeringly more than predecessor and delivering far, far less.

What does this have to do with snow removal? Well the feds don't do their share so the province has to try and cover but they don't want to do their share either so we are left with the cities forced to deliver more and more front line services with less and less help. That makes for cuts in everything, including stuff like snow removal.

If you want the white stuff off your streets, you will first have to get rid of the snow from Ottawa and Victoria.

Re: Snow you think you know

Small error in the logic there. After all, corporations - particularly multi-nationals - enjoy an entire raft of tax benefits, perhaps even more than charities, not to mention personal immunity from the actions of their directors.
