Now that I hear about your finale, I feel a little jipped. Not that I was complainin' last night, mind you.

Re: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON FIVE FINALE

In chimene's defense, I don't think she was making any such accusation. If it is legitimate to decide who to vote for based on gender or history, then it is reasonable to expect that people will use race as well. This is not a mark of racism or of sexism, in the case of gendered underdogs. It is simply one factor in the decision-making process. When I had to choose between Brandon and Jeanine, I looked back at how many women had won this competition and attempted to balance the scales with my little vote.

Re: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE SEASON FIVE FINALE

Hey, I just finished watching Gene Kelly and Judy Garland in Summer Stock. First of all, Katie Holmes is no Judy Garland. This may be Garland's best movie and if you want to see how the Get Happy number should be done, go right out and rent it. But, it got me thinking...wouldn't Evan be charming in GKs part in Brigadoon? He'd be a less mature than Kelly's Tommy Albright, but that naivete Evan was so criticized for would work to his advantage in this romantic fantasy. Haven't thot of a Fionna...maybe Jeanine. Hmmmmm

Re: SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, SEASON 5 WEEK 2, ELIMINATIONS

I am in complete agreement with you. Caitlin's solo was one of the best I've seen because it WASN'T filled with tricks and had real emotional content. And Max's solo should have put him thru. My jaw dropped at that announcement. They don't have anyone else with Latin ballroom skills and I think the show will suffer from that. Kupono has less to offer, in my opinion. Still, I can't wait til next week.

Re: YET MORE INJURIES, RIDICULOUSLY DANGEROUS LIFTS AND JUDGMENTS BASED ON A MARKING REHEARSAL???

I admit to being a new-comer to the show, but I am surprised to discover that the judges are not all from ballroom! What are the producers thinking?

I am also disturbed by the numbers of injuries due to extreme technical tricks. It puts the contestants in unnecessary danger. The professionals should know better than to push someone thru their pain. That's crap.

And the misuse of music really drives me crazy. Its one of the reasons I avoided watching for so long. Still, I've got to admit that I'm enjoying the show, especially when we get to see someone like Lil Kim develop into a pretty good dancer.

Re: DANCING W/ STARS S8,W4: VIENNESE WALTZ AND PASO DOBLE

I was so glad to read how much you all disliked the music too. I hate it when they try to force pop music onto these very specific dance rhythms. How can the amateurs learn to dance a PD without the proper music to drive them? It seems to me it only makes things more difficult for them.

Who picks the music anyway? And why do the amateurs get blamed for bad choreography? I saw this alot on SYTYCD...we call it being BBC'd: Betrayed By Choreographer.

Do you think Gilles has enuff talent for a new career in dance? With or without the shirt.

Re: DANCING WITH THE STARS WEEK 3: LINDY HOP AND ARGENTINE TANGO

It was nice to see them attempt a real Argentine tango and Lindy Hop, however unsuccessfully. I remember seeing Frankie Manning and others doing some serious Lindy in Hellzapoppin. The Lindy we saw last night was tame and sloooowwwwwww. Still, it suited some of the dancers.
I totally agree about the risks the choreographers are taking with their amateur partners. The numbers of injuries are inexcusable.

Lil Kim's tango was the winner for me. I was surprised by how much she has matured as a dancer: her lines were beautiful, nice transitions, appropriate attitude. Along with Cowboy Ty, she is most improved. Now isn't it time to drop the "Lil"?

I thot the judges were unfair to Shawn. They seemed to punish her for utilizing her gymnastic skills...as if it was cheating. Melissa's cheerleading skills and Gilles acting surely helped them get those 10s.

I'm not sure which costumes were the most tacky: Shawn and Marks or Lacey's. I love watching Lacey dance, but her choreography and taste are questionable.

Time to say goodbye to Woz (I'll miss ya), Holly, and probably Steve-O (who should have performed in his clown costume...it would have inspired him and would have been fun to watch).
