I don't use RSS personally...I am a complete technophobe and have not, to date, wanted to confuse my little brain with any more than it can handle (not very much currently!). I am happy to subscribe per post (as with previous Blogger comments form), to ones where I have said something, and get the updates via e-mail...is that possible? And, if so, how? If not, I shall just bookmark the comments RSS feed :o)

And Brendan, I haven't said it to you personally, and feel I should...the site looks GREAT! I am a little jealous, actually. I particularly love the changing album covers at the top (and am amazed by how many I would have put up there if it was my own site...there must be an SMM 'mentality'! Lol)...especially now they are fixed! I also love the little stars by each 'widget'.

Nice work, my friend, very nice work indeed.

I just followed the link to find out what 'scrapple' is...being both a Brit and a vegetarian!

Yuck!..."a savory mush of pork scraps and trimmings", "typically made of hog offal, such as the head, heart, liver, and other scraps, which are boiled with any bones attached (often the entire head), to make a broth".

I shall look forward to that track, Paul. I have tracks for both states but, you are right, there aren't many out there (particularly for Washington State, as opposed to D.C....e.g. Iris Dement's 'There's A Wall In Washington' is gorgeous, but is about the capital's Vietnam memorial as far as I can tell).

I'm waiting until this theme is over to post over at my blog with my own list of all 50 state songs...no duplications from the posts here (except for New Hampshire, as I simply can't find anything to rival the Sonic Youth track, which I did already have in my library)...it seems I might have to bend this rule for these last two states...if the rest of the week is just about them, the songs that I have decided on over at my place will likely be posted. I may post one myself, so it feels more ok to post the same song over at mine...or I could just cross my fingers? Lol.

Just to clarify...are we still only on Washington State, and not just songs with 'Washington' in the title? Same for Pennsylvania actually, as I have one about Pennsylvania Avenue...

Aha! Just been checking my external drive for things I'd downloaded before my computer crashed, taking all the open download windows with it...I have a Wisconsin song by Bon Iver, so can go with The Mountain Goats for Maine! :o) Yay!

Now I just have to whittle it down from 107 songs (and I've already made a few 'chops'!)...and, of course, get on with actually posting here and on my blog, rather than just clarting on!!

Wow! I only have one Wisconsin song that would be worth posting (the other is dreadful)...but it is by The Mountain Goats, who were already posted for Maryland earlier this week!

A question...is Maine Island Maine? I know that Maine has been posted here already, but I'm working on an eventual post for my own blog, and don't want to duplicate with Mountain Goats tracks! (And also don't want to duplicate tracks from here...although I think I might have to make an exception for Sonic Youth and 'New Hampshire', both because I love Sonic Youth and because the only other New Hampshire tracks that I have found suck!).

Scott, if you burn those annoying m4ps to disc, then upload them from there back to your computer, you should be able to get around the iTunes 'protection' issue :o)

I totally agree re: Texas country vs. Tennessee country...the red dirt is where it's at!

I have songs for Maine and Rhode Island, but I don't have a Connecticut either...nor Wisconsin.

I, too, love Sam Cooke's 'Tennessee Waltz' (although I am biased...Sam Cooke's voice is my favourite of all!), and there are, of course, some great country numbers about Tennessee...try Dolly Parton's 'Tennessee Homesick Blues' or Maria Muldaurs 'My Tennessee Mountain Home'.
