This is total BS. I lived across the hall from her, and there was no "blood curdling scream." Believe me, I'd have heard it, and the dogs on the floor would have barked. They barked their heads off when the FBI came to print the place and look for blood (which they did not find). It's a tiny, all white studio.

Actually the economy began to tank in January 2008, when the 2007-2008 budget was finally passed. At least that is when I lost my job as a federal contractor. I also read recently that the economy needs 300,000 new jobs a month to continue in recovery.

Or maybe the squirrel is in for a surprise when the kittens grow up... One of my favorite kid's books is Stellaluna, about a baby bat that falls into a nest of baby birds and is accepted altho considered odd for eating fruit and sleeping hanging upside down.

A marker along the way, the lynch pin of change for how fighting dogs are treating. Read Jim Gorant's book The Lost Dogs. Read how difficult it was to find the souls who would go after Vick, when "everyone" knew he was fighting dogs. We must strengthen the laws to punish people who fight dogs, breed dogs like crops, hoard animals. Until we have that cudgel it will continue unabated.

Voting heavy in MO because of Prop B which would improve standards for dog breeders. It has turned into an anti_HSUS referendum for the big agri people. But they're gonna lose! Maybe WARL will take in a few fewer puppy mill pups this year.

Yes it is not much different than having a child. My 13 yo cat had a stroke two weeks ago, now is back 100% but I lost sleep over it. Have a great trip and say hi to the Chicago Greeks for me (us).

Hank Stuever gave it a good review in today's (Monday) Post. He said the animations were a little disconcerting at first, but proved effective in recreating the actual bombing.

I'm ABD in Public Health Policy. When I was working on my dissertation proposal I wrote to Ted Kennedy and asked for a copy of his proposed bill. That was in the '80's and it never made it to the floor. Then in the '90's we had Hillary Clinton's push... still nothing. The problem is these privileged bastards have no clue what the average working class person faces. They have never had a health crisis and not had top notch coverage. I have Kaiser Permanente and would never go back to conventional coverage. Not that I could, as I'm also a breast cancer survivor. Too bad Edwards (both of them) turned out to be such glass bowls.

I read somewhere that the first weddings will be on Tuesday at a Unitarian church, which I presume is All Souls Unitarian at 16th and Harvard, since its the only UU church in DC.

The pentagon shooter, J Patrick Bedell, has died and apparently was a 9/11 conspiracy nut (planned demolition) who had been arrested for growing marijuana in California. He posted on Wikipedia and its variants.

The Justice department issued a statement that the confidentialty of the 2010 Census is protected by laws which trump the Patriot Act. Goody for me, since I work at Census.

I get tetanus shots periodically through my plan with Kaiser. This is the type of health care all Americans should have. It reasonable in cost, there are no deductibles or caps and a small per service copay. For example, I had to have a lumpectomy and radiation therapy for breast cancer. The surgery cost me $25 as did each radiation treatment (total of 33). Now tell me what your super duper insurance would cover!

Personally, I believe most of this hair-on-fire talk is from wishful drinking Repubs. Losing one seat in the Senate is not such a big deal. And wasn't this a special election to fill out Teddy's term? So its not even for the full 6 years.

I've been donating to Doctors without Borders since before they won the Nobel Prize. They are a-political and a-religious. They already have 800 folks in Haiti, some of whom are missing. They have set up tent hospitals, as the three structures they were using have collapsed.

Interesting ... they did not ban future building of mosques, just the minarets. I will be surprised if it does not get challenged in court.
