I'm no prude. Hell, no. And I've seen a ton of porn in my time. But the effect it has on the mind isn't good.

Through work I've met a teenage boy who dumped his girlfriend cos she was, in his words, frigid. They were having sex, plenty of it if he was telling the truth, but she was dumped cos she wouldn't go ass to mouth...

Unbelievable, but that's what he said. He was one of many kids I know who have an altogether bad attitude to sex. But ass to mouth boy was the worst.

Re: Gagarin!

Whoo! I got distracted by the big guns while conveniently forgetting that the current Daemonhunter book doesn't have much room for anti-tank.

I won't make that elementary mistake in the next game. I'm willing to accept that they are antiquated but to say that they discourage creativity is maybe taking it a bit far.

My own work isn't directly based on that of anyone else. I've been inspired by countless images and discussions over the years but I'm not using anyone else's work as my own.

However, I did write a story for publication using the spindizzy technology from Cities In Flight by James Blish. And I did receive not a single penny from that.

Re: Wargames Legalwatch: Games Workshop vs Chapterhouse

the copyright laws are sound as they stand. Well, maybe they aren't exactly sound but they work well enough I reckon. There are other copyright options for those who don't mind their work being shared and worked on by others freely. Creative Commons springs to mind.

But as a creator I wouldn't want my own work to be taken and adapted by others for profit. Especially without my permission.

Re: Wargames Legalwatch: Games Workshop vs Chapterhouse

So, according to the begging letter on their own website and the one in the BOLS forum they are wanting community support to help fund a fight they wanted from the start, one in which they sought to make money on someone else's IP.

What makes it worse for Chapterhouse is that they sell their goods for cold hard cash. Making money from someone else's property will never fly with the courts.

If it does, I have my own version of a 40K role-playing game I'd love to print and sell. Licences be damned! And more fool Fantasy Flight Games for bothering to do that in the first place if I can just make my own versions and sell them for the afore-mentioned cold hard cash...

Re: The triumphant return to 40K: Grey Knights vs Deathwing

Yeah, Larry isn't far off the target. I'm not the greatest writer in the world, far from it, but it boils my goat to see stuff like this getting in print.

The style was pretty stiff and it glosses over lots of action in the same way it would be explained in a codex.

I had expected better.

Re: The dread spectre of NaNoWriMo

Heh, six or seven weeks...
