Didn't care for this episode much and if I remember correctly, that's a first this season.

Frank is bad for the family, and bad for the show. He fits no where and is doing nothing aside from his usual debauchery. He goes in circles and nothing changes. He's not even worth the laugh anymore- you just roll your eyes or go with it.

There's so much more this show can (and needs to) focus on and Frank detracts from that anytime there's a "Frank Storyline"

This episode: I'm not a fan of Karen waking up, or being in a coma at all. For me, her purpose was served after Sheila and Lip once again realized how awful she was. Now Lip is going backwards and we're going to lose Mandy, and probably MIT.

Love Sheila and even her relationship with Jodie.

Yay V and Kevin. I'm wondering if the pregnancy will work out.

I wish they would stop skating around Ian. Him crying in the bed last week was gold but he's always on the back burner and gets one scene. The bond with he and Lip was great episode. He's more than his sex and love life btw if they wanna give him more material.

Understanding where it leaves Fiona, I support Jimmy's decision but of course it looks like he's gonna get caught back up in the wife stuff. I love the laughs I get out this show, but the revolving side themes are often its downfall. Seeing Debbie depend on Jimmy was nice to see. Just shows how comfortable she is with him and how they depend on him.

Soooo. yah. Last week's episode was great, this one, not so much and I totally disagree with your analysis. So much territory left uncharted, at the end of the season, to give air time to Frank, which as we know, never goes anywhere.

I agree the characters didn't change this season. The only one that did was Marnie and I perceive her to be working her way to independence, and actual adult hood.

Them being so young though, eventually they will grow up. I loved this season, look forward to the next.

Sidebar: Lena Dunham really wrote that she's pretty and a good writer. Adam getting hit was so predictable. That's really my only gripe of this episode. The purse shot was a bit off but I understand why since Hannah didn't overtly acknowledge it.

For the most part, I felt like the show really picked itself back up this season and I'm proud of it. Edie Falco is amazing and I'm glad I get to keep seeing her but this would have worked well for a finale. Hopefully they keep pushing, keep all the cast involved and use all of Falco's talent.

I'm very apprehensive about the showrunners being replaced. Continuing without the same vision or care can be a disaster. To me, Dexter was never that great and especially not in recent years so hopefully they don't run it into the ground.

I am curious to see the direct aftermath of Charlie's death and O'Hara's baby so hopefully the first episode picks up where this one left off.

So C+ because you aren't a fan of Perez and what her character was used for. This season is going very well and I look forward to it. Jackie is crashing despite trying to pick herself up. I loved the dumpster bit at the end.

Still bummed this season only gets 10 episodes.

Thor's role needs to be expanded.

Lip pissed me off this season by making poor choices. Up til his last scene with Karen, I couldn't understand why he bothered with her.

Carl's sociopath tendencies annoy me in the way that a shitty kid would.
Debbie being so naive makes me roll my eyes at times.
Frank and Karen are in the same boat.
Monica by herself is great. I smiled when she said she wanted to do a 60 day stint. But of course Frank has to intervene.
Veronica and Kev are always great. Hopefully they get a new storyline next season. They kinda faded with the loss of Ethel.
I'm wondering the aftermath if Ian tells Fiona but I feel like it'll be brushed aside next season if Ian isn't still seeing him.
I love Steve's mom. Hopefully she gets more screen time.
Estafania redeemed herself by hitting Frank, the line she uttered afterwards and by cuddling with, and not fucking, Lip.
Jody's an idiot but in the best way possible. Aside from being sweet, he's gorgeous and I wouldn't complain about anymore nude scenes.

I never bought into the humanization of Frank though. Him breaking her out was just another example of him being selfish and screwing things up.

All season long, I just rolled my eyes at Frank's plots. He's selfish and has no regard for anyone but himself while everything he touches turns to shit. They can't paint it any other way.
