He killed the child and placed her there, that is why he knew for months where she was located. Casey was in jail while the meter reader put Caylee there. That is clear. With an absence of witnesses, this should be dimissed like the two water park incidents recently. But, perhaps justice would have been best served if he were sentenced to 36 months probation, no sex offender registration, not permitted to own, have acccess to or use any digital camera or device containing a camera during the three years, and banned from Altamonte Mall property may be sufficent punishment. Of course violation of any condition should invoke sex offender registration, three years in jail, etc. Oh, and of course electronic monitoring during the three years.</p><p>I think this could 'rehabilitate' his obvious stupidity and if not successful, jail may help.</p><p>I would have a problem if it were one of my girls, but he did not exactly touch them or have any real contact with them. "I was only going to leave them for the night" [outside, by themselves, in a hot van, without a bathroom] ... and if I were the judge, I would not hestitate to inform her "sentence, 180 days county jail, $2500 fine, 5 years probabation, monthly visits by DCF for 24 months and random for the next 36".</p><p>They need to make it more expensive to NOT provide proper care. This needs jail time to offer time to think over the poor decision and permanently reprogram the person to not 'forget' to take care of the kids next time, it needs to be more costly to fail to care for the kids, i.e. the fine needs to be high, next time it would be cheaper for a sitter. Lastly, we need supervision to make sure the mom learned from what she did.</p><p>Too Harsh? Well when these situations end up with dead children I think not. It appears at least once a month we learn of dead children due to be left in vehicles. I think it is time to make real penalties to cause parents to think twice.
