I did not buy a 3G iPad for these and other reasons. I might add that I am pleased I made this decision. Now with tethering built into the iOS who needs it? Even when I am desperate for a connection I can get it through my phone! A good example of the tech moving so fast that people are doing double takes all the time. Bring it on!

I'll also just throw in here that I love my iPad but I also love my iPhone and my Laptop and my desktop and my Mac... yup they are all great and for lots of different reasons and I use them all for a lot of different purposes. With reference to Leigh's comment below; good that you found something that is for you! So many times I hear of friends an acquaintances that buy an iPad and want it to be the holy grail and are disapointed or whatever - point is it isn't and won't be. You have to buy technology knowing what the advantages, strengths and drawbacks are and everything has both.

Re: I read it on iReddit - the official reddit iPhone app arrives

Gotta be honest I am not noticing a difference in page load times. At any rate I would have thought that they are using the safari shell to do so in which case it should be the same load times. Maybe it is the distraction of the reddit dude??

Re: I read it on iReddit - the official reddit iPhone app arrives

Cheers - found it! I must be blind or something. Still gotta say that it is not that intuitive a place to be looking for it. Also be nice to have a list of "saves" through the app itself as well as the web page. Just a suggestion.

Re: I read it on iReddit - the official reddit iPhone app arrives

Using the app and it is pretty cool. One major thing - great that you can save a link on reddit - but where are they?? I can't find them anywhere - either in the app or on the site...

Re: Bit's and Pieces - Official Theatrical ‘Wanted’ Movie Trailer

I can see a lot of servers running something like it - or maybe some services that pop out of the code - I dunno but being open source anything is possible. But I think it is what sets it a part in many respects and why it might get there in some shape or form. As far as a micro blogging service, same same. I am playing the wait and see thing now.

I am using FriendFeed a hell of a lot more. I hate Plurk - the interface is awful. twitter are yet to get their shit together... all bets are off for the moment I think.

Re: Commenting Failing to Login on Blogs

Derrr - I am a stoopid geek. I am an idiot... I'll let you know if it works.

Re: How to make FriendFeed useful: Drop the Twitterati

In some ways I agree. Dropping twitter from the stream will cut down significantly on the noise and as you say make it more useful. Mainly because you are left with more in depth material, as opposed to the - "eating dinner" twitter posts. But I would disagree with the idea of getting rid of people that are making conversations. But then I guess that depends on your idea as to what you want those conversations to be. I personally have not thought that these conversations were dominated by people talking predominantly about FF or twitter.

Re: Multiple Personality Problem

Thanks Daniel - have done that - thanks for the quick response.

Re: Techmeme corrects your titles

Please someone tell me why Disqus thinks I am unverified - I did register and claimed this profile above - now I think it thinks I am not the same person... weird.

Sorry Loic - unrelated :P

Re: Techmeme corrects your titles

Bullshit is fine with me Loic... :)

Re: What a write off

I gather by the tags that her problem was the usual.

Re: You to can have a $600 slide show maker

That is the irony imho - you don't need a Mac to do this! Any PC can do it with the right telly and the right cable. So where is the buzz in that?

I agree Dave is usually on the ball but, this is just another app for a Mac and not a great one. That is how much buzz it deserves, not the total flip everyone has done on it.

Re: You to can have a $600 slide show maker

Not only am I the second "Gray" to post a comment and that comment is straight after that one (that is just freekin weird :P ) I am also here to say that I totally agree Steve.

Not only that I have to laugh at the fact that Scoble has found another useless medium to broadcast crap from in Qik! Geeze.

To me this is not that new in so much as you can ook up any decent LCD tv to a computer via the DVI slot... now you can treat it like a monitor - even show a slideshow! So I just don't get it at this point and time - or is it because Dave Winer came up with it that we are supposed to prick our ears and listen... please the days of the A-lister are done. NEXT!
