Yes, that Radiolab program is what got me thinking about what life on the trail would be like without the constant noise like, "well, let's see, I've gone X miles in this amount of time, but I've still got X miles to go." I've also noticed that as I get within the last mile or so of a long run, my fatigue and pain level seem to jump up, as if my brain knows the end is near and just wants it to be over!

Re: How Should Cheating Be Defined In Sports?

Hi John,
No, I "borrowed" the photo from the Web, so feel free to use it.

Thanks!
Dan

Re: Youth Sports Coaches Should Prioritize Teaching Over Winning

Thanks, Lucy!

Re: Youth Sports Coaches Should Prioritize Teaching Over Winning

Sure, here is the link to that study: http://www.springerlink.com...
Thanks!
Dan

Re: Exercise Pumps Up Your Brain

Thanks, JD!

Re:

What I honestly tried to do with this post is pre-date it to like September, so that it wouldn't appear front and center on the blog (it would be buried in my historical archive), but I wanted it in the library of posts so I could refer to it. Unfortunately, I learned that changing the post date in Blogger doesn't prevent it from going out on the Feedburner feed to subscribers.
It was not my intention to "push" it out to all of the site subscribers, but just "add" it to the library of posts.
I'm sorry it went out. I hope you will reconsider and rejoin the list.
All the best,
Dan

Re: I Run, Therefore I Drink?

Ken, I think that is definite possibility and one the researchers are trying to connect. They want to see if compulsive behaviors could be linked.
Thanks!

Re: Kids Who Exercise Can Get Better Grades

Thanks Sweepstakes Girl and Lisa!
For a lot more great details, be sure to check out Dr. Ratey's book, Spark!

Dan

Re: Baseball Brains - Fielding Into The World Series

@Walt - Yeah, I admit I was fooled the first time I found that video!
@Debbie - Thanks!
