The car service I occasionally used last year wished me a happy Diwali this week. November is coming.All Saints' and All Souls sugar skulls are on sale now.I stopped assuming that everyone was some flavor of Christian back in the '80s. I worked in a couple of places with "compulsory" Christmas decoration. I've seen Miracle on 34th Street many times.

Oddly enough, all (or should I say "most of) those studies (of men's and women's interests) use the term "tend to," because survey data is subject to interpretation, and social scientists tend to interpret data in light of either previously held conclusions or unconscous biases. (Note: I am not a social scientist.) Most survey questionnaires are not designed to yield nuance of any kind. I take it Mr. Brooks has not figured any of that out. I suspect Brooks hasn't actually set foot into an office since he started using email, instant messages, and direct deposit.

Most of the women I know work in tech in some capacity.

Some people embrace moral absolutism in a desperate effort to find solid ground. They feel a rare and comforting sense of moral certainty when they are purging an evil person who has violated one of their sacred taboos.

Other than the purging part, that's our Mr. Brooks, isn't it.
