One of my favorite performances of the YEAR was how he shut down the Dallas Stars. Watched Holtz get all up in his head behind the bench before the last home loss, and wish he played like that new kid from Hershey who liked to go to the blue line!

Re: Barry Trotz moves Alex Ovechkin to third line ahead of elimination game

I think it's deserved. Ovi is slowing down. He's playing to his strengths -- that incredible "eye" and quick wrister -- but it's been painful to see him "loose an edge" on the fast break, and watch Oshie, Schmidt and even Williams skate rings around him. I trust Trotz -- even if he did put Orlov and Alzner on the ice at the same time ;-*

Re: Hispanic Dems 'disappointed' with party's Latino outreach

The point is INCLUSION. Showing Hispanics that they deserve to be included in the political process as Americans when so much seems to be at stake for their community makes it a crime that BOTH sides aren't doing their best to reach out! It's particularly sad when @sabiomobile has been doing all within its power to prove how this Hispanic-owned company has opened dialog with Hispanic consumers via mobile media with major brands and individual political campaigns across the country. It's not rocket science anymore to both understand the nuances within the Latino community and to speak to them with respect. That's really all anyone wants, ¿Correcto?

Re: 'I was invisible': How agency ageism affects those 50-plus - Digiday

It's about time, @Digiday (literally ;-). I never thought living on the bleeding edge of digital media for my whole career would ever be a liability, but this same bias is true of digital MEDIA. (Sequel?) I've seen first hand how little the digital media and marketing industry is willing to shoulder any responsibility for addressing this issue as an iDiversity evangelist for IAB as well. Through IAB Education Foundation, all the isms are supposedly being called to account. Yet while hundreds of alleged diversity champions were asked, none were willing to join the fight from the front lines on the iDiverse board. And not even IAB is exempt! (Should someone ask why the head of the program, who is himself over 50, is unexpectedly "retiring?") I think the only way companies recruit is by hiring "more people like us," but then they realize how much they NEED to know, and end up hiring laid off experts as consultants! I've concluded that maybe the only way to conquer exclusion is to be more inclusive in hiring in-house recruiters. Good for you, G-F -- this is the kind of passion and entrepreneurship, along with the passion for leaving a legacy -- that your agency is now missing. Maybe your next venture should be a recruiting company for creative directors?

Re: Patrick M. CLAWSON

Melinda here... Wife #2 ;-) Pat and I met on the White House lawn when I was Washington Bureau Chief of Religious News Service and he was with KTLA, covering George Shultz' swearing in as Secretary of State for the Reagan administration. We married the same year on the first day of Fall. Fall was Pat's favorite season because of the change he said it always represented -- and probably because he so loved politics, DC's favorite sport! During our nearly 20 years together we enjoyed his tenure as Washington Bureau Chief of Radio and Records, on-air correspondent at CNN's first Special Assignment Unit, Virginia's state chairman for the Perot for President campaign, in a run at ownership of a radio station in Montana, and through many other adventures, too numerous to count -- though a few of these did win him the title "World Class shit disturber" from Washington City Paper, of which he was justly proud.

Through it all, my sons Chris and Jon overflew Brentwood in Zoey Tur's chopper, famous for having broadcast the "O.J. chase." They tagged along to political rallies, protested the construction of a glass factory in Pat's beloved Shenandoah Valley, and generally grew in both poise and respect for their rights as citizens in this glorious and sometimes messy democracy we know and love. Chris welcomed Ralph Nader to speak at Woodberry as "our family friend." Jon, barely into his 20's, shook hands with Jessie Jackson in an elevator in Chicago with the words, "Rev. Jackson, it's good to see you. I read your book." In short, we can all say that we enjoyed a front-row seat at many of the most important events of the day, and been exposed to both lasting ideals and iconic change agents through Pat. As many of his friends have told me over the last few days, he was a complicated guy for complicated times.

Even more importantly, of course, we enjoy an expanded family that included Pat's sons Mike and Ryan, Glenda, Laurie and her girls. We'll all likely be telling stories of our times with Pat into our own graves, and his legacy lives on in sons who know how to stand up for themselves against seemingly unbeatable odds.

Re: GE releases a 'Moon Boot' shoe on Snapchat (with Buzz Aldrin)

Kudos to GE for making the moon landing cool again (or, maybe that was Transformers...) But, come on, as long as you're "re-imagining" things 45 years later, why pick a store partner that only makes MEN's shoes? I'm not suggesting heels here, but wouldn't women be more likely to wear shiny silver boots anyway? (Okay, maybe I'll give you that one...) Bottom line, I went to the JackThreads website to check out the execution and was pleased to find "Jill" available for live chat. When I complained about the machismo she rightly pointed out that JackThreads only does men's shoes, but she didn't stop there -- she provided a women's size conversion chart! 10 points to JT for customer experience. -5 to GE for not expanding the experience to women who love science (and little girls who still dream about walking on Mars...)

Re: crayon - a new marketing company

Not so much.
