Tonight, I U scratched, clawed, fought and battled for every point against the best defense they have faced all season. It was impressive and encouraging. I am loving Tom Crean and the Hoosiers right now.

Branch McCracken, Lou Watson and Bobby Knight would have all been proud tonight.

I can't wait till next year...!!!!!

It appears that IU usuallly will come out early and play competetive basketball against most of their opponents and then their the intensity or discipline falls off.

Turnovers seem to be be a consistent problem. I am not sure I agree with the consensus here that minimizing TO's cannot be improved upon.

TO's are generally a result of ball handling skills and a sense of court awareness and player positioning. Why can't improvement be accomplished with practice once the cause is identified?

I am not sure how to address the team's tendency to play well early and then the loss of focus or discipline as the game progresses.

While the total sum seems precipitous, it's nothing compared to the damage Samson has done to diminish the fine reputation and high standards that I.U. had established over 40+ years.

Having read about as much as my brian is capable of handling (47 pages), it appers that in spite of IU efforts to monitor Sampson's actions while coaching at IU, the NCAA was determined to find the University guilty.

I wonder if the NCAA was trying it's best to catch Sampson and penalize him further for past grievancies. It just so happened that Sampson was employed by IU at the time and, therefore, IU suffers the consequences of the NCAA findings on Sampson's wrongdoings from his OKL days

Wow...This is amazing news.

Just maybe, Crean and IU, will be the combination that will brings IU back into the forefront of College Basketball for years to come.

What an outstanding job he has done considering the time constraints, environment , and circumstances.

I wonder who, other than him, could have pulled this off?

I would have choked Neal Reed also. However, Coach Knight should have put him over his knee and spanked him which, from what I understand, should have happened when he was in Jr.High. There are stories about Reed and his personality on and off the court that would have been an embarrasment to any basketball program. His foul mouth and arrogance around young kids and other adults would put even knight's language to shame. He was not in the typical mold of most of the players Knight recruited and made no effort to comply to any of the standards knight expected of his players

I would never had fired Coach Knight striclky on his last years won/loss records. I think the I.U. administration may have been able to overlook his arrogance toward the press but his finall demise was due to his disrespect for Indiana University authority and and his fellow co-workers.

This is the unfortunate part of Coach Knight's legacy...his poor attitude and disposition.

Anybody who has followed his early career can attest to his greatness. Knight's latter years were distorted by his bitterness with the press and a defensive posture towards everyone who challenged him. I stll consider Coach an I.U. legend and prefer to remember his accomplishments during his early and more docile years. Coach Knight's various contibutions will never be fully appreciated due to the tarnished image of his latter years.

The true travesty remains that Coach Knight had to end his oustanding coaching career with out the banner of I.U. in his backround.

His I.U. legacy somewhat diminished...I will always remember Coach Knight for this basketball coaching genius and the many charitable contibutions he initiated or funded for the Univerversity and I try to dimiss his latter personality flaws.

I don't think IU Fans should dwell on wins and losses this year. A better barometer for the the future of IU BB will be how well Coach Crean can develop and mold this years team considering the talent level that he has been left with.

If they can compete with the competion and display team unity and skill improvement...this will go a long way.

My congratulations to you on presenting to us this exercise.

It was fun, intersting and allowed many of us to research and more fully appreciatete great history of I.U. basketball.

I had buddies from High School, college and work, who do not subscribe to this web site, asking me for updates as the list would eventuate from day to day.

Many were not neccesarily IU fans but all had comments and input regarding the daily results. I was geneally surprised at how much each of these guys knew about the history of IU BB and their recollection of some of these great players.

Outstanding work and my Thanks again

Keep in mind that we are voting on the greatest Indiana University players of all time.

I'm not sure that we should use these player's NBA careers to measure their value to their I.U. careers.

I have been rating the players based on how they performed as members of their IU program and how during their I. U. careers they contibuted to I.U. success.

Am I using the wrong criteria on which to base my votes?

Isiah may have been the best guard in IU's history and like everyone else... I wish he could have played longer in order to appreciate his value over a longer span.

On the other hand, I have been dissapointed in his character and personality as an NBA player and his later accomplishments off the court as an NBA executive.This probably should not distract from his outstanding BB career at IU.

Sounds like he has good East coast connections as well as a solid backround of oustanding coaches during his playing career.
