That's gotta take a considerable amount of horsepower, especially considering these sites range in traffic from 3,000 to 6,000 unique visitors per month.

I remember 10 years ago, the same post on a static HTML page, even a large million-plus unique visit site I had, would require a good two to three weeks to be seen on a search engine such as Google.

Today's progression of technology and its power to process data is impressive. I'm glad to see this, especially from the perspective of a blogger, but I have noticed that a few of the old archived pages I have looked upon for years seemed to have dropped down the search engine results pages.

Re: Off-Road.com To Go Vertical To Dump The Sad Stature Of Google Ads ROI And Engage Intuitively Conservative Publisher Action Plan

Thanks for the good word. It makes for an interesting yet somewhat elusive post to ponder.

I'm glad to hear Brightly will remain on board. I assume the move to retain him on the roster is a savvy one rather than one of necessity. Perhaps that in and of itself sheds light upon the guts of its editorial quest and perhaps moreover a sign toward future success. Considering the portfolio that makes up the VerticalScope network of websites, Off-Road.com should have a far better opportunity to earn favorable accolades than it had with Advanstar.

Now, pertaining to price, even if I had even a scant notion of the price paid for the "former industry icon," divulging such information, particularly on a public forum, would render whatever sources I maintain in a disloyal light among colleagues. Advanstar got what it got, which was not a lot. This statement pertains to the purchase as well as the sale.

This industry has got to be in your blood before embarking upon any quest that will immerse you in it. If it ain't, it will bleed through your product lineup as well as your editorial pages like the plague and eventually eat the operation alive.

Re: FREE DESKTOP WALLPAPER DOWNLOAD: 2010 SNORE Battle At Primm - MICHAEL HANSON / DVS SHOES.com

You caught a typo in the second reference. You're absolutely correct. This is a superb Joomla template(extension) indeed and proves once again Joomla's prowess among other content management systems (CMS). The admin template, just as Joomla, is highly extensible.

Re: Disqus: The Official Blog - What features would you like?

Would love user level integration w/ #JOOMLA & #WORDPRESS.

Re: Domains for Sale!

Does this mean we can expect to encounter legal issues w/ OSM when we opt to auction off Joomla©Sucks.com on Ebay? If so, one can only assume real trouble will ensue once we auction off Joomla©CertifiablySucks, since OSM, enlisting such logic, would be the only authorized entity to provide approval of such an enterprising effort.

The domain name scenario is completely unenforceable, as in my industry, where we had Off-Road Magazine legally insist they were entitled to our domain name, Off-Road.com. Despite the pouting and vehement complaints, the arrogant behemoth behind Off-Road Magazine as well as its editor was not so entitled to overrun the foresight of entrepreneurs. While Joomla is not as generic a name as off-road, the legal as well as the community-derived ethical principle remains and therefore fails to support such rules that OSM whimsically fabricates on behalf of Joomla.

I've perceived many of the "RULES" concocted on behalf of Joomla to be blatantly amateurish in that they were idealistically impossible to enforce. Such "RULES" have often been void of much value in community encouragement (policing) and have often been shewed unto the masses in an arrogantly astute manner that lacks both logic and clarity in whatever favorable objective they were fashioned from.

As seen in this situation as well as a few others, interpretation of such rules lacks foresight and consistency. Enforcement appears arbitrary.

My statements herein no way undermines my love for Joomla or any efforts gifted from the official or the unofficial contributors of the community. I offer it up as others here have - to benefit the overall direction of our community.

Re: Twitter Messing up Superblogger and RokTwittie

I don't know that this issue is exclusive to RokTwittie, as we have the same issue using several other Joomla Twitter Modules on various websites. I can see your RokTwittie looping right now in teh left column, as if it's not receiving the feed.

Perhaps the best but not the cleanest-looking method is by using the code provided by Twitter and hard coding the last line directly into your template. This way, if Twitter is not available, the rest of the page still loads properly.

Re: What is the future for joomla? | Joomla GPS - brian.teeman.net

Outstanding discussion with some superb contributions. With the advent of the marketing communications forum over a year or so ago, I anticipated greater transparency as to the collective vision and overall direction of Joomla but found efforts to (extract and) disseminate such vital information futile. The project's communications has become akin to The Wizard Of Oz and rendered a bleak outlook on its future. Fortunately for most, though, on the topic of its future, there are far more reasons to support Joomla's mysterious and utterly elusive future than to defect.

Re: bit.ly blog - Shorten URLs with bit.ly Inside Gmail Last night,...

Now we just need a gadget that works as an addon within the Firefox web browser and connects to our Bit.ly accounts with custom URL capability.
