Nice piece, Beth. It's funny how people who don't use Twitter often dismiss it as something that just the "kids" are doing when in my experience it has defied that sort of Facebook-esque generational association. 99% of my college students have no idea what Twitter is, either.

Decided to implement since I'm on this "live your life in your feed reader" mode and I can watch everything via RSS rather than email.

The Disqus team is awesome as well.

well, for people like us who would rather get RSS'd of new comments than get email updates, this is key. Plus, I'm thinking of how I can incorporate the feed from the comments into the main site. So much that could be done using this a platform!

yeah, you don't have to create a profile, but it's cool if more than one blog you frequent uses disqus. plus, the RSS integration for individuals is pretty sweet if you like keeping up with places that you comment.

not even sure about the trackbacks. i get so much trackback spam that i've stopped paying attention to them unless it comes from someplace nice (such as the wonderful affiliatetip).

just checked and it looks like the trackbacks go straight into the place they normally do.

Hi Jason-

I love Disqus (especially since the updates). Sure, you are giving up a little as far as googled real estate goes, but Disqus offers so much more to your users (not just the community pages stuff, but the RSS and ability to track your own comments across a variety of places which is a killer feature in my book) that it is worth the trade-off.

keys are great, in my opinion. the keyboard is, of course, smaller and takes some adjustment... but the responsiveness and feel is worth the 20 mins of making sure your fingers are in the right places.

hadn't even thought of the GPS thing. great idea. i do have it synced up to Verizon's EVDO network through my mobile when i travel, so i'm halfway there!
