I really do hope so FG. A little awareness -- baby steps -- and hopefully... hopefully...

I was a bit down for a few days after writing this, and I was talking about it with a female friend of mine and she mentioned how she gets cat calls all the time, and guys just saying really awful sexual stuff. But she lives with it. It's a part of her life. So for me, it's also the same. It's sad and unfair, yes, but it's also there, and I shouldn't let it dictate the rest of my life here.

I appreciate you sharing your experience too. Thanks :)

That is indeed very true. I myself went through a similar ordeal. When I was applying for internship about three years back, one of the prospective employers asked me to get people who could vouch for me. Granted, he he could've been asking for references, and he could've said references, but instead he used the word "vouch". Even though I could get said people, I didn't bother because I wouldn't want to work with someone like that.

Certainly not every country, but I do understand where that fear comes from. The root of it. Me, I still don't go to KL Sentral unless I absolutely have to because of a traumatic incident that happened last year. It's unhealthy.

The power to decide ""what is good" is now in the hands of everyone. I wouldn't have found the works of Vincent Moon or George Watsky or Nina Paley without the internet.

Look of the Week (my favorite on-again-off-again cinema related web-series) wouldn't have been possible to produce 10 years ago.

I'm for the democratization of culture, and the fact that the
creme de la creme will sometimes not rise to the top is an unfortunate side-effect. Unfortunate, yes, but certainly one I can live with.

That's an interesting question, and something a few people in the doc tried to address.

The way I see it, way back in the day if I wanted to release a record, I'll have to go to someone and convince them that I'm good enough. But I can't just walk into that someone's office -- I'm no one -- so, I'll need to know someone who knows that someone. What I'm getting at is this -- there is someone several folds better than me somewhere who doesn't know someone who knows someone and therefore will never have their record released.

The situation now is that everyone who wants to release a record can release a record. Sure, a lot will be rubbish, but that's not the point.

So... will the creme de la creme rise to the top?

My point is, it's different from back in the day, but it's still exactly the same. There is no surefire way in ensuring that only the best gets released. Come to think of it, there's no surefire way of determining what qualifies as the best.

A band may break-up, the artists may give up, but the internet is forever. The way I see it, if the work really is very good, and it's on the internet, then it will definitely be found... eventually.

Sometimes "eventually" is a very long time.

I never thought of it that way, but I see what you're saying. I guess it has to do with me as a person than anyone else.

When I got serious about photography about two years ago, I was the guy always saying "Hey let me see that" because I thought I knew something about taking pictures that my friends didn't.

"How dare you shoot me not in the rule-of-thirds," I would say.

"You shouldn't frame it like that, that other way will have more balance"

Symmetry. Shadows. I always try to find something they're doing wrong.

I've become much more chill now, and I guess whenever people ask me to see, I just think they're me. The me I used to be.

Funny story about the ear rings --

In the car, I told her "Your ear rings are beautiful". She must've not heard me right because she touched her hair and said thank you. I was like, no, I said your ear rings, then she was like, so my hair isn't?
