We were informed that the Louisville Plant would be closed for good if we didn't take some severe cuts. They brag about how much money that was earned last year but almost all hourly employees had to take a pay cut, some as much as $5.00 an hour. There was never any real negotations, just the constant threat of take what little we will give you or make plans to visit each other in the unemployment line. The Company used scare and threat tactics to get that contract open and broke Union rules to do so. We lost more than just money, we came away with far less, some employees even opted to take early retirement. A few just quit because they felt not only underpaid but also underappreciated. There is still a constant threat of layoff. So Indiana, you may get those 20 jobs but how many jobs do we have to lose so you can have those 20? We are already counting 30+ and under what conditions?

Re: Compressor Manufacturer Cook to Move Production from Kentucky to Jeffersonville, Indiana

Here is the real story on Cook Compression!! They have been talking about moving to a new building for years now, and the employees always were under the assumption that we were part of the plan. After all – We are what built this company in to what it is today. A leader in the industry.
The Big Boys put their plan together – informed us that the Louisville Plant would be closing. If we wanted to have a job, in these hard economic times we would have to open the 5 yr. contract they agreed on. Under the threat of – “comform, or stand in the unemployment line with a small severance check in hand” No meaningful negotiations took place, it was all planned as a threat.
Major wage and work rules consessions. New hires will be paid a fraction of what it was before.
Good luck Jeffersonville – A real prize!! Can’t cross 8TH Street – but they can cross their union employees, and take as much as they can get.
