Saying Brian Roberts would have made a tremendous difference is lunacy. I agree, there. However, I would have gladly given up Soriano and had DeRosa in left with Roberts at second. The leadoff spot is highly undervalued, and having a free-swingin', slider-missin' Soriano up there hurts. He has zero patience at the plate.

I realize this is after the fact, and we still may win the series, but I will never, ever understand batting Soriano leadoff. His OBP is eighth best among starters (well, 7th if Edmonds starts) and he rarely walks or takes pitches. Plus, when he does rake, no one is on ahead of him to score. It drives me insane.

We found that Kosuke hated leadoff, but why not Theriot? I trust Lou knows and Soriano loves leadoff, but for realsies. All any pitcher has to do is throw sliders away, and he swings...and swings...and swings.

OK, sorry. If he starts hitting bombs, I'm allowed to recant.
