That's not actually true. Most of those installment plans give you the discount over the course of 24 months, so if you're on a cell phone installment plan, and then leave the carrier, you may be on the hook. Now what IS true is that the next carrier is almost always willing to eat some of that cost if you switch, but only if you buy a phone from them and carry over the instalent plan.

I'm actually changing my mind a bit. I'm thinking the Pixel is not so much a bad idea as a necessary evil. I think Google has to jump into this market due to the current state of Android. Realistically, we have just 2 major players in the smartphone world: Samsung and Apple. As far as the Android world is concerned having one OEM with that much power is sub optimal. Especially when that OEM has shown in the past that they are not interested in being beholden to Android. If pixel succeeds we could see the entrance of a third legitimate player in this arena. It may not be ideal for the other Android OEMs or may be just self serving for Google, but I'm legitimately concerned if there isn't a viable third option for smartphone and (more importantly) a second option for Android. Granted we can all agree the Nexus program has not been hugely successful in market penetration. Google tried it with the Galaxy Nexus and I think that was perhaps one of their best selling phones, but the time was just not right and it wasn't needed for this reason. At the time the gnex was a showcase of new technology and where Android was going when Android did not have the market it has now. There are many reasons but mostly for the fear of what could be if Samsung is unchecked I hope for a very successful pixel. And I'll be buying a pixel XL to replace my Nexus 6p after the reviews come out if they are favorable.

I don't think they'll change. After all, the Nexus 6 didn't light the world on fire for pretty much the same reasons (if you don't count the polarizing size)

Up until the iPhone 7, Apple's phones still cost a grip and lacked features. I'm not defending the pixel and I don't intend to purchase as I think it's a poor value proposition, but let's not go and make spoke a hero where they are not.

Not true. The iPhone 4 never received support for SIRI. This feature thing is exactly what apple does.

Yes it does. Do you know how many iOS users are held hostage because all their friends use iMessage? Apple Music was a new service so they open it up to the greater audience to get the foothold.

Right. Could've is a contraction of could have. That's why, to avoid confusion, I wrote could've in parentheses. In youe case it didn't work. Their (they're) hard concepts to get across on the internet, I guess.

There's no good will here. They advertised these vehicles would get Android auto in March of 2016. It's only for the 2016 models, even though the 2015s are close. They only lack one or two modules, but GM is not providing an upgrade path. Not even a paid one.

I think the real issue that no one really talks about is how screwed up the updates make the phone? Battery drain Kit Kat on the LG G2, Horrible mess of Lollipop on the Galaxy Note 4. He'll, even the Galaxy Nexus was a mess for somebody the Gingerbread updates. For the most part though, the updates have not been horrible for the Nexus 4, 5 or 6.
