He should have the right to be vocal about his politics-- after all, he is not working for the government and the right to criticize, for me, is pivotal to creating a free and equal society. Also, you have a typo (I almost never point them out, but you called Bielsa "Pinera" at one point and I was confused and had to read this paragraph a couple times (I am slow and tired because of jet lag). Sorry for correcting you. Here is the prob:

I say, Piñera did his job, he got the Chilean team out of a very tough World Cup group, when last World Cup cycle, they didn’t even qualify. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again — he turned that team around. So he came to the country of Chile, he did his job with and for Chileans and he happens not to agree with Piñera’s politics. He has a right to believe what he wants to believe. Get over it. He was hired to coach the Chilean soccer team, not kiss Piñera’s ass.

Or maybe that was what you meant.

Re: Sesion Fotografica, Santiago| Angelica, The W Hotel

Is this the W in DC?? Or at least, I think that of those of us who came in high school. I am not sure it transcends to the college arrivals or those who are married. In high school at least, those who were super popular and super happy didn't do well in Chile. Those of us who despised our lives back home had a blast and created lives that were what we wanted. And, for people like me, we have maintained those friendships and lives for years and years.

Re: Jacques of all Trades

I don't know. People routinely in the US self classify as a high social class than they are. In Chile, this is not so. Also, there is huge distinctions between old money and new money. For example, La Dehesa is new money and seen as "rota" among the cuicos. Also in Chile, besides last names (and first names) that differentiate the classes--- you always have to list your high school on your CV. This clearly states where you come from. When I lived in St Louis there was a similar phenomenon. People always asked what high school people went to. It was an automatic way to classify people by class. But, in the US, St. Louis is the only place I have seen it.

Re: Different Types of Gringas in Chile

Hahaha, I was a 9, then a 1, then a 3.
