Some of the most influential critics are bloggers. You can connect directly to fans if you know where to find them. There's lots of examples of this working out of people: Soulja Boy and Sean Kingston did all of their own self-promotion quite successfully on MySpace and were subsequently noticed by record labels because they were already blowing up on their own. Granted, this is a little different for you because, as you said yourself, your primary audience is grandmas....

Re: Where the internet is going

So they already have this at the Media Lab: http://oblong.com/

I agree that 3d internet would be cool, but there's lots of interface considerations to be made. First of all, websites have tried to include 3d-esque content before (VRML in the 90s! Good stuff) but it turns out that it's just kind of....lame video-game-y. Second, even if you had an interface that could work like the one I linked to above or with Natal---would you want to? That's kind of a lot of work to just be navigating a menu, or typing! In certain ways, pressing a button or hitting "down" is a beautifully elegant way of navigating, and we shouldn't forget that in the new shiny future...

Re: http://soisawthisthing.tumblr.com/post/429268846

Why do I feel like this was posted just for the completely unnecessary jab at Ohio?

Re: http://soisawthisthing.tumblr.com/post/395644174

I was explaining how I wanted to make something like this to Brennan a while ago!
